The Anarchistic Pogo Party of America (APPA) is the self-declared party of the "lazy people" and the "social parasite". It was created in 2004 by two punks in Boston. It derives from the APPD, of Germany, which was founded in 1981. The official communication organ is the web site "The APPA".

Goals

We have a Natural Law party in the US as well and they are not all a bunch of loonies. I found their platform to be something like the Green Party meets the Libertarians.

But this Anarchist Pogo Party is really an interesting lot. They are patterned after a German party by the same name. The Pogo Anarchists are different from Traditional Anarchists in that they abhor work in general and support public hedonism. A lot of it is in good-natured fun such as the construction of beer taps in every home and a supply of beer (instead of tap water). But I found some other items to be really brilliant such as the aboltion of prisons, the legalization of drugs and so on.

Economic collapse is not a platform I could ever support, sorry.

In a sense it echos what Kropatkin and other Anarcho-communists have been saying. The goals of many early anarchists was to produce enough goods and materials to keep society alive but not to over produce. Even among Anarcho-Syndicalists there was a desire to reduce the number of hours workers spent at work so that large numbers of people could be employed and at the same time everyone would be guranteed a basic standard of living.

This party is actually partially satiracal in its platform. The original german Party uses the slogan "Arbeit ist Scheiße" or "work is ****", which is a paraphrasing of the old communist slogan "work is honor" or even going further, the National Socialist "Work is Freedom". Its promise of a hedonistic way of life and such goals as "centers for physical love" are not really attainable goals are are not intended to be taken seriously. Yet it does ridicule the foolishness of other poilitical beliefs and philosophies.

If they were truly lazy they wouldn't have bothered with the actual work of forming a party...they would have just sat around musing about it.

Wouldn't it be something if this party actually goes somewhere?

I do know one thing, they are slow as hell when it comes to returning messages. I applied for membership online and they still have not sent me anything... I guess they are too lazy or something.
