U.S. needs to watch extremists, Fox says

MEXICO CITY - Anti-immigrant sentiment appears to be growing in the United States, Mexican President Vicente Fox said Wednesday, and he urged U.S. officials to act quickly to control movements such as the 950-member-strong Minuteman Project on the Mexico-Arizona border.

Fox said he plans to push for U.S. immigration reform during a meeting with President Bush in Texas next week. He also said the two leaders, along with Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin, likely will announce a plan to expand the scope of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

"We totally reject the idea of these migrant-hunting groups," Fox said. "We will use the law, international law and even U.S. law to make sure that these types of groups, which are a minority . . . will not have any opportunity to progress."

Fox also harshly criticized the construction of walls along the border, including a new "triple fence" planned for the San Diego area.

"We are convinced that walls don't work. They should be torn down," he said. "No country that is proud of itself should build walls. No one can isolate himself these days."

True, because Mexican law forbids a president from succeeding himself.

I heard that Fox is not as good a guy as he makes himself out to be. He has dragged his feet on legal reform among other things.

Also: I read that Mexico, with the support of the US government, is deporting illegals from Central America from Mexico. And then they tell the US to stop trying to keep Mexicans out?

These illegal aliens clog our justice system and cost us a fortune in welfare benefits. But most of them come here to work, and work they do. And when those paychecks start coming in, much of the money goes right back to Mexico to take care of the families the illegals left behind. How much money? About $15 billion a year, that's how much, and that makes the illegal exportation of Mexican labor one of Mexico's largest industries.

If you lump the Mexicans all together you're missing the point,they're really being victimized.
Mexico is a very wealthy country and the wealth is controlled by a small irresponsible group of people and Bush apparently is in their back pocket as many american politicians are and have been for a while.
If we could elevate the living standard of the Mexican man in the street noone would suffer except those greedy short sighted people causing the problems in the first place.

^ the US is not a floating barge for the world's undesirables. the people of THIS nation must always come first. the only thing we need to worry about is sealing the border and repatriating all illegals.
