weird *** asian drinks

i bought some weird *** chinese drinks (the kind you usually see in the fridge of some chinese or vietnamese restaurant, and have always been wondering what the hell they are) last night.

today i opened one up called a 'basil seed drink' ....

it's a fairly bland drink with these squishy tapioca balls in them. being bored, i decided to spit them on my computer screen. i don't know what amused me more -- the fact that they stick to the screen, or the 'ptui' sound i make when i spit them up.

now there's a bunch of little tapioca balls stuck to my screen. they look like little nipples.

yes, i'm bored

Now that is wierd. I thought I was the only one that ever tried those. The Dill or Basil seed drink I had was like that. I inspected the little tapioca-like things. I think it's the natural gelcoat that the seeds form when saturated by liquid. Just like seeds in a tomato.

I confess it hadn't occured to me to spit them on my screen, but then, I drank it in the car, so that option wasn't available.

Have you had the little seaweed squares they sell at such places? Looks like thick green paper, has a vaguely soy-sauce taste. It's actually pretty good and I understand nutritious.

Screw those stupid Chinese drinks. You gotta try the Korean ones. Try chilsung cider, which is something akin to an asian-flavored ginger ale. And the infamous milkis. Carbonated, sweetened milk, basically. Yummy. Seriously. And there's the yogurt stuff, which is just basically a lot of sweet stuff in something that resembles a shot glass.
