Which Religion Has The Coolest Symbol?

Consider both form and symbolism when giving your answer.

You mean "Millennium?"

Yes, I definitely had the Seeker's Triangle in mind when I started this thread. I love that symbol, which is why I always use it as my avatar.

I actually didn't know it until I read The Book of Millennium, but the triangle has very specific mathematical properties. Apparently, it is a right scalene triangle, with the two legs having lengths of 1 and Phi. Phi is the golden ratio, or 1.618. The three legs of the triangle stand for the pilliars of the Method - Reason, Objectivity, and Self Doubt.

...And I always make it purple because purple is my favorite color.

...No I am not gay.

Anyway I am tempted to say that Christianity has a better holy symbol. The balance of the cross is simplistic and it isn't as well designed from an artistic or mathematical standpoint (the ratios are very simple in the cross) but the idea of a crucifix, on which your religious leader was martyred, being your holy symbol? It's just hard to compete with that. No matter how cool the Seeker's symbol is, I don't think anybody tied Sherman Hawk to a big triangle and left him in the snow until he died or anything like that.

Mmm. Not really into focussing on a single symbol when it comes to spiritual matters.

I think all sorts of symbols are neat, but I would be wary to imbue them with too much power.

The sun is a good one for it is perhaps the most universal benefactor humans can look to. It gives us life and will one day consume the planet...

Okay, now that I've given my Hollywood Squares answer, I guess I'd have to say the faravahar of Zoroastrianism.

http://zoroastrians.earlhaig.com/faravahar.htm

I'm candidly uncertain as to why I find this symbol so attractive. Seems a bit cluttered compared to, say, the Christian Cross, the Star of David or the Islamic Crescent. There is also a bit of doubt in my mind that it is the "official" symbol Zoroastrianism, as they also use various representations of fire, typically in some sort of urn.

However, to my eyes the faravahar seems to capture a sense of striving, really a sense of struggle, that is lacking in the other religions mentioned. Gives it a dynamic feeling, whereas the others mentioned all look static.

Not likely that I'd ever convert to this faith, given that I'm an agnostic. They also do not accept converts, anyways, as is typical with minority religions trying to avoid antagonizing the majority among whom they live.

What? That weird hodgepodge?

That's to your credit; agnostics are cooler. You should totally join Millennium; our entire religion is developed around agnosticism. (Unofficially some people say the stance of Millennium is Deistic since Hawk was an agnostic deist, but I actually know more agnostic atheists who are part of the religion than agnostic deists.) Of course after joining you still won't get to use that Faravahar, but you do get to use the Seeker's triangle which you must admit is cool even if it hasn't got any feathers. I can't wait until I have my third child; at that point I'll be eligible for the point-down triangle. You'll never hear the end of it. I love that point-down one.

I forgot about the yin and yang symbol. It is certainly one of my favorites for the very three words you posted.

In my endless crusade to foster human understanding, I unveil for you the Schwarstika, pictured below. By melding the Star of David with the Swastika in a ying-yangish, dualism-crushing way, it reconciles two sides previously thought to be irreconcilable. As such, the Schwarstika is the ultimate religious symbol and is suitable for lapel pins and T-shirts.

Come on, all ye Aryans and Jews, let's shake hands and make our new slogan "Never say, 'never again'!" Let's put aside our differences and conquer the world together!

Um, where would the Palestinians fit into the 'conquer the world' scheme?

Sorry, couldn't help it.

i think an ordinary Star of David (with nothing added to it) is pretty cool, i really like it alot

it's just very easy to draw and that's a positive thing

anyway what synnagogue is the altered star of david for? the synagogue of anti-semitic people of judaism?

I would say the celtic cross and the jerusalem cross are the two coolest symbols.
I used to have a necklace that was a jerusalem cross. I wish I still had it.
