Frank's opinion of DA people
I know that a few DAers were banned for "insulting" Frank in here, including me.
Now here's what Frank thinks about the people on DA: Quote:

yeah frank seems to be pissed off at Rugen (Dok)
Jenn's already nearly banned there for debating it. Pretty sad forum from what I've seen. If we would go by the same rules we would end up banning everyone, including me. Hardly the spirit of 'discussion forums' |

By the way
These words:
"I hope he enjoys his new scumbag race-traitor lowlife friends." were written by Frank, not me, referring to Rugen. I still can't master this "quote" thingy. |

Rugen
Somewhere, there's a thread in which Rugen says he has cancer.
To Rugen, I'd like to say: I admire your courage -- expressed in your humor and wit and intelligence -- in the face of very bad odds. I think that your ten dogs, as well as your real friends, are lucky indeed to have the love and companionship of a man like you. You are in my thoughts, Dok. |

Rugen's posts here aren't driven by racialism. They aren't disparaging and he's a good sport all around. His posts always give a smile to those who read them.
I'm sorry to hear that others would view him so negatively just because he's posting on this board. Why does it have to be an "Us vs. Them" issue with some people when it comes to bulletin boards? It all seems so childish. There's enough internet for everybody. BTW, I think Rugen looks cool. In his profile pic, at least. |

knave, you quoted something, but you didnt quote the worst, and the thing that gets me the most, is that i was actually told that i was respected, and then, in his anger he says things that he just cant take back...

Hiya Jenn,
I don't really know what "the worst" is. Why don't you quote it? I think the point is that our intuitions about "white nationalists" (i.e., racists) are generally speaking right on the money, and Frank is proof of that. by the way, my trip to Brazil was awesome! I fished the Rio Araguaia, caught peacock bass and piranha, and spent 10 days in Rio, my favorite city in the world. Very exciting because there's an election going on there right now. They just elected "Lula." I went to a Lula rally sponsored by the samba school of Vila Isabel (a Rio slum); they had a huge, amazing party, a mini carnaval. What incredible people, so very beautiful. What I love about Rio is the race-mixing multicultural ambiance of the place, there's nothing like it. I also spent time on the very steep hills of Santa Theresa, which is part slum, part artists colony, and anything goes. Took a trolley back to Ipanema when the fun got too much. Uma beijo, knave |

I didnt want to post what he said, because that would be like just spreading his hate for him, and increasing the differences between us.
(but uhm, i was just so mad, and dont have a DA journal, so i did post it somewhere.) the thing is the worst though, is that i chat with him on IM, about just plain old stuff, and so i get an impression that i might actually be respected, and now this thing between Rugen/Dok and him, and he thinks that everyone on DA has done something wrong. (to think you might've been respected, and then to hear words that show how idealistic and naive you really are.) i wont stop being idealistic, that's just in my nature, but i will do better to protect me. And i had stopped going to SF because i thought i might be getting an ulcer or something. (hyperbole again.) and i had would chat on IM, so i obviously didnt see much of what he posted on SF. [i'm just stupid] |

ditto! and on another note, keep in mind, although I don't agree with any of franks ideas at all, he did as we asked him to the time he was here.. he abided the rules and brought a diff opinion, which others didn't like. What he says on SF his own business. As long as he don't post stuff like that here, we are ok. But after reading some posts there, you do see his true colors. (no pun intended) edit: Knave, that last part was not aimed at you in any way.. I just combined 2 posts into one ![]() |

I don't mind Rugen at all. In fact I enjoy some of his posts for the humor of them. I may not totally agree with his ideas, but at least he doesn't spout a whole lot of rhetoric. Frank spouted things I've read in places like SF. No matter what he said here, it was always tame by comparison to what he said there. Sad, very sad.
Jenn, not to worry. In your life you will come across a myriad of people who are not what they let you think they are. Just learn to walk away and understand that if they couldn't be honest with you about themselves, they never were a friend. As to Rugens illness. He has such an upbeat attitude and even when debating projects that.. Wishing you the best Rugen..

Thank you Talyn (can i call you that?)
and, i came to the same conclusion, and while i might be just as idealistic next time, i wont be as stupid, i'll just make sure i protect me better. I didnt want to tell my bf about this, cuz he was ... well he told me so, like way back in the summer, and i didnt want him saying, 'i told you so.' but he saw the DA threads, and he said "I told ya so", but not gloating, just matter of factly. And he also said something that made it all easier to swallow, he said that while he's sure i will change the world, i have to just realize it isnt gonna be with people like frank. he said something more like, "this isnt where you where you will change the world, just leave them, you know where you will do it,and it isnt here." (he was referring to research, and biology, and biotech.) It was just what i needed to hear. [not that i have some sort of change the world complex, but in a way, i want to be a benefit to that which i come in contact with.] Last edited by turtle_o; 10-09-2002 at 11:30 PM. |

Jenn,
Sure you can call me Talyn. More changes are wrought through love, care and concern, then the hatred that Franks friends spout. Each of us will change the world in some way. Not all changes will be momentous steps, but every little degree of change, is change all the same. If I had a dime for every time some said "I told you so" to me, I would be sitting on a mound of them. That's just one of life's little annoyances. You will change the world. You may be the first to find a synthetic drug to replace insulin. You may be the one that isolates the gene that creates the weakness that starts a birth defect in-utero. You never know. Every avalanche starts as just one snow-flake. You may be the avalanche to something great. Talk to you later..! Talyn

even if i just get to HELP on that kind of research that will help us understand human illness and how to fix them better, that will be enough for me.
but it is really nice to hear others say they know what i mean when i talk about that little bit that helps makes things just a little bit better out there.
