That MAY all be very well and good....

But...there IS the MITIGATING FACTOR that this "otherwise upstanding and sterling personnel" may one day allow his personal attitudes towards life and people, based on his alleged organizational affilliations, to get the better of him, and ... commit an act - whilst serving on duty - that HE and/or the citizen he encounters WILL regret.....

That is, much less, provide FAIR, JUST, and IMPARTIAL TREATMENT towards said citizen(s) the trooper encounters.............

(N.B. - "and/or" is as in IF said encounter would result in the death of said - presumably innocent - citizen)

If you use the same yardstick across the board, then members of the superior race from south of the border would also be suspect, as well as anyone who had communicated with such groups as NOW or the NAACP. Perhaps even religious groups some of whose members had avowed enmity toward us.
