Israel to expand ground offensive
So it's off to the Litani River they go. Meanwhile, in Hizbullah-land, their crack military strategies have so far degraded Israel's will, and ability to prosecute this war about zero percent.....maybe less.

They are simply following the plan of 1982. Plan for a major invasion but start by promising a limited engagement, so that the Cabinet approves, knowing the enemy will respond, then use it to get further escalation, which results in the Cabinet being stuck and risk being seen as "wusses" and soft on "defense," and having to accede to a larger invasion.
Hizbollah already knows this and is in for the long haul. Soon, if they're smart, and they've made dumb and smart decisions before, they'll pull back on the rockets and go for full guerilla war. Then Israel, no longer under attack, will see more and more IDF deaths and the left will start to pressure the govt. to pull back. Deja Vu, all over again! |

They have changed the tactics so that they'll WIN. It happens in wars all of the time. There are always changes, because the battlefield changes by the minute. Israel has apparently decided that a one mile buffer zone is too small, so they're creating a much larger one. that makes perfect sense, because they have no choice but to go in there and destroy all of the rocket launchers, bunkers, and the tunnel system that the Iranians paid for, not to mention as many enemy soldiers as they can. That way, there will be no place to launch attacks until new ones can be constructed. Israel will most likely be keeping a close eye on the entire area, and not allow anything to be completed. From what I have read and heard, Israel has yet to lose a battle. The enemy is taking way more casualties as well. That just doesn't look like a demoralizing situation for Israel IMO. I think the situation is the other way around. Hezbo's spokesman keeps saying everything is going great for them, but those types lie like hell. Their fanaticism seems to override their better judgement, and as terroists always do, they have overstepped their bounds and are gettingtheir clocks cleaned. I remember Kadaffi saying the exact same type of nonsense, none of which was true. He threatened that there would be a "sea of blood" if the US attacked. Sadaam said the same sort of things, which also turned out to be lies. The "mother of all battles" never happened; at least not from an Iraqui standpoint. Sadaam was either in hiding, as in the first Gulf War, or on the run as he was in the second. Talk is cheap, and Muslim extremists are good at it, yet they continually lose battles with modern, disciplined armies. this latest war is more of the same, but the enemy has had time to dig in, so it will take longer than usual to dig them out, or bury them. |
