This is wierd....too wierd
I went outside for some fresh air....a few minutes ago...., (meaning, I went outside for a smoke). Stood there for a few minutes enjoying the cooler temps, when I noticed some movement on the ground. I looked....and it was a piece of cat food....about half an inch off the ground, bobbing and weaving around, and moving unsteadilly toward the flower garden left of the back door to my kitchen.
This is the dry kind of catfood, in little four-legged star shapes, I'm not sure what brand name, because my wife bought it. I take a closer look at this levitating cat food.....and it's a spider. Hanging on to a piece of cat food. A daddy-long-legs spider. It was struggling with the piece of cat food....but it had a hold of it, and was heading toward the Tiger Lilly's a few feet away. It lost it's grip on the cat food once, dropping it. But it picked it up, and went lurching on it's way. Spiders don't eat cat food, of this I'm reasonably certain. So....strange. That is all. (if anyone has an explanation for this bizarre spider's behavior, please clue me in.) Edit: And yes, I know it's "weird", not "wierd", sometimes my fingers seem to trip along of their own volition, and I can't edit the title. ![]()

Maybe the cat food is a lure for other bugs. What a smart spidey.

I don't trust smart spideys. A spidey smart enough to abscond with cat-food, is smart enough to shove a cinder block down on my head when I'm tinkering around in the basement.

I'm sure he just smelled the blood and figured it was edible...

Maybe that was the queen. Get rid of it now. Put it in a box and take far away. Remember he is a smart spidey and he might come back. Just watch your back in the basement. LOL ![]() |

Did you know the spiders in Arachnophobia came from NZ?
They are called 'Henderson Spiders' (Henderson being the Auckland suburb in which they proliferate!) Kiwimac

Daddy long legs are scavengers ... they'll eat anything eatable

I'm with DngrMse. I just simply don't trust spiders at all.
They're too darn smart for those freaky little bodies. And they are canabalistic too. Nasty freaky little things with murder on their minds. I sure hope that when I kill one (not on purpose - just self-preservation cause it's in my house) - that it comes back as something else. But not a cockroach, cause they are pretty much the same, |

Even spiders have to feed their pet cats.
