So you really think if you can understand your enemy, you can make peace with him? Or will that understanding lead to war. Did Britain understand Hitler? sometimes you must recognize there is true evil at work, UNDERSTAND there is true evil, and be prepared to fight. If we really understood our enemies we would go to war much sooner.

Yes, if britain had understood hitler, it would have gone to war sooer. Peace would have been achieved quicker. Therefore, more understanding equals more peace.

Not MORE peace, Cynic, just on a different time scale. And who is to say had the war started a year or two earlier we would have won? Teh uS was not prepared, it might have been disaasterous.

a year or two earlier, hitler's army was weaker. An alliance of france and britain alone would have crushed germany then.

And Japan? They would have overrun the Pacifac, including all of the area controlled by Britain, Holland, France, Australia, New Zealand and so on. It is really a guessing game. Your statement really implied that through understanding war can be avoided. That is the way it is most often used. I don't really think so. If we really understood communism we would never have helped the USSR, would hve gone to war withh them, have already defeated China and N, Korea, along with Cuba, and there never would have been an iron curtain. So there would have been more war, not less.
