BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- U.S. forces have exhumed a mass grave site in northwestern Iraq and uncovered the remains of scores of people.
Many of the bodies found at the site near al-Hatra are believed to be the bodies of Kurdish women and children thought slaughtered by the Saddam Hussein regime. A pool reporter recently was taken to the site, and the evidence gathered at the site -- a remote wadi or valley that cannot be seen by passing vehicles -- is expected to be used in the war crimes trial against Saddam Hussein and his Baathist allies. "A perfect place for execution," Greg Kehoe, the head of the Regime Crime Liaison Office and leader of the forensic excavation, said on Wednesday. "It is my personal opinion that this is a killing field," Kehoe told reporters during a visit to the site south of Mosul. story damn! all of these ppl must of died from the flu!

Given that the grave appears to be some 20 years old, that would put its origins smack dab in the middle of Reagan's administration. That was around the time Saddam was gassing the Iranian army while Rumsfeld was eating dinner with him in one of those palaces, wasn't it?

i dont think anyone refutes that. just amazing that bodies keep getting dug up all the time.
i dont care who did what then, he's still a scumbag, i understand the point of it back then, which was a different climate than it is now and yes in hindsight it didnt seem like a great idea but jeez, name a president that never made mistakes. not excusing but come on! i know republicans arent he only ones...remember haiti? yeah that wasnt such a great idea either, neither was somalia, neither was kosovo. they all **** up but only some are blamed by some people. weird.

Interesting that the USA is quite good at finding what no one on the left disputed--mass graves--but the USA has a hell of a time digging up what it claimed to "know" existed but what the left said did not: stockpiles of wmd.
Where are the wmd stockpiles? Keep digging boys. ![]() |

I believe it was around 1987-88 that the Reagan administration was sending Saddam satellite photography so that he could more easily locate his enemies. |

I seriously, seriously doubt it was the intended aim of the administration to allow sodamninsane to locate and kill Kurds.

Hey, remember now. Humanitarian wars are OK when Democrats use that justification, not OK when Republicans use that justification.

Wtf are you talking about? The U.S. Gvt's involvement with Saddam ( A secular Stalin wannabe) back in the 80's was assisting him in the war against Iran ( which by that times was by no means Communist)

Well all this proves is Saddam was as evil as we all knew. Yes he deserved to be toppled but the Iraq war was not another step forward in the "War on Terror" it was a monumental step backwards.
Those people died around the time he was being supported by the US in the Iran/Iraq war and there have been countless others after that who his regime murdered, no one will question that. But because the current US administration had taken office with the aim of toppling Saddam they have taken their eye off the ball with regard to the real culprid Osama Bin Liner........... All the misadventure has done is create another breeding ground for fanatics and terrorists. |
