Bridget Bardot Convicted of Inciting Racial Hatred

Quote:
PARIS -- Brigitte Bardot was convicted Thursday of inciting racial hatred for portraying Muslims in a negative light in a book. The Paris court said the former film star compared them to "invaders, cruel and barbaric."

Bardot and her publishing house, Editions du Rocher, were fined $6,050 each, to be paid to two anti-racism groups that took them to court. She could have been sentenced to a year in jail.

Bardot, 69, also an ardent animal rights campaigner, was not present for the verdict. At a hearing in May, she told the court she never meant to harm anyone with her book, "Un cri dans le silence" (A Cry in the Silence), which topped the nonfiction best-seller lists last year.

"If I did hurt someone, I'm sorry," she said.

In her book, Bardot denounced the "infiltration" of France by Islamic extremists and criticized the ritual slaughter of sheep during Muslim religious ceremonies. She also described what she called the "Islamization of France."

Ms. Bardot is correct and I agree with here thesis. If we're going to boycott French products, I say we do so until this ridiculous verdict is overturned. France for the French. Just say 'No!' to Moors.

i would have honestly gave her a prison sentence instead of a fine

what Jat has left out from his sotry is

Quote:
Bardot had previously been found guilty on similar charges
so this isn't the first time she's done this

so she should have been given a prison sentence

plus also she didn't mis speak here or it didn't come out b an accident

she wrote it in a book, now if she#'s anyway intelligent, she would have reread it before publication and also her editor and publisher would have also read the book so she purposedly broke the law

she should have a prison sentence

uh, IFF? that's a bit harsh ...
I say let's just ignore that misnathropic biter old crone... Like she doesn't hate everyone equally ... And to know if she's "anyway intelligent", just read the book, it is so appallingly badly written, you might get an answer to this question pretty fast ...

The only people those 'anti-racist' organizations ever target are white people; they never target pro-black, pro-hispanic, pro-asian, or pro-anything else groups ... maybe someone could make the case that those groups are themselves acting in discrimintory ways by targeting only pro-white groups.

People should NOT be sentenced to prison or fined for something they say or write.

Maybe someday Europeans will be able to enjoy freedom of speech. Unfortunately, most of them don't even seem to understand the concept.

"Her language could lead the reader to 'reject members of the Muslim community through hate and violence,' the court concluded in its ruling."

Well, of course. One couldn't reject it simply because it stands for hate and violence.

as a european i fully understand Miss.Bardots anger and upset due to the yearly Muslim Festival of the LAMBS, the French Judge must have got upset about her writing and portraying them as what she wrote but am sure she wrote it in a well meant manner for those animals suffering and we all know she is a great animal supporter and very outspoken, yes we EUROPEANS have freedom of speech and nope we dont need to learn from anyone else, when something is taken out of context it can be interpreted in many ways, cao.

Mr Anarky, first of all why the name change? If was more humorous as Prof Anarky.

Secondly, do you agree or disagree with Brigitte Bardot's observations regarding what is happening in France?

Thirdly, if you agree, which any rational person should, do you think anything can be done about and how should that objective be met?

I changed my name because I wanted to be a cyberspace hot dog vender.

I believe Bardot is a reactionary and a nutcase, but I also believe that idiots should have the right to free speech.

My thoughts exactly ...
Why make a martyr of her when you can see her being ridiculed in a tv debate ?

Doesn't answer the question and makes no sense. I am thinking of changing my username to Dr. Snouter though.

Why is someone who makes rational. politically incorrect observations a "nutcase.?" Why do you deny the demographic reality in France in regards to Muslims? Is it simply ignorance, or are you pleased with the expansion of Islam?

Hey, do change it to Dr. Snouter. I love that! Seriously, you should consider it. It has a good ring.

I explained why I changed it elsewhere. But to summarize: if I am a hot dog vendor, I don't need to spend so much time reading posts about what I "really" do for a living.

I don't deny the demographic reality, but it doesn't concern me. Throughout history the demographics of countries and regions have changed. That's all that is happening here. Besides, I don't equate Islam w/ terrorism. Mostly, I equate pissed off people w/ trerrorism. Sometimes I equate greedy people w/ terrorism. By "equate" I mean "see a causal relationship with."

I wouldn't start projecting your understanding of USA race-relations on Europe. They just won't fit.

hey i'm all for freedom of speech as long as it does not hurt other people and does not incite violence against other people

do you think people should be covered by freedom of speech if thy incite violence or hurt other people

should a person who repeatedly make false cazlims about other people be covered by freedom of speech

hypothethically speaking, would you feel the same here that a muslim cleric who makes claims that all white people were satan's disciples and should be killed

would he be then therefore covered by freedom of speech?

Yes. Its called freedom. He has the freedom to say it, and I have the freedom to think he's an idiot.
