Gee, look who's 'outsaucing'!

Gee, look who's 'outsaucing'!

TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ SATURDAY, MARCH 20, 2004 10:34:24 PM ]

John Kerry's financial fortunes may be linked to a ketchup empire, but in his political notebook, what's sauce for the goose isn't sauce for the gander. The Democratic Presidential nominee, who has been railing against outsourcing, is walking on a sticky wicket on the issue. There are outsourcing footprints all over Kerry's pristine all

-American turf.

H J Heinz & Co, the family business of Kerry and his wife Teresa, has spread its ketchup operations across the world. Of the 79 factories that the food processor owns, 57 are overseas. Heinz makes ketchup, pizza crust, baby cereal and other edibles in such countries as Poland , Venezuela , Botswana , Thailand , and most of all, China and India .

That's not all. Campaign finance reports reviewed by the Congressional publication, The Hill, reveal that executives at 25 companies identified by CNN's Lou Dobbs as prime outsourcers have contributed more than $370,000 to Kerry's presidential campaign. Among them are executives of Citigroup (who contributed $68,250 to Kerry), Morgan Stanley (gave $38,000) and Goldman Sachs (gave $50,300).

Heinz is a multinational company like Coca Cola their are plants everywhere. Hell when I was in NZ I had Heinz products. Sorry if Heinz has closed down factories and moved the production overseas than that is outsaucing ( I do like the pun) One of the problems I have with Lou Dobbs list is I really dont know what companies simply have international operations and which are moving US jobs overseas.

BTW 25 people donateing 370k is only 14.5 k on average not a massive conspiracy to buy the government

The thought occurred to me that if any candidate ( every candidate) rejected donations from those who didn't follow to the letter everything the candidate espoused the campaign coffers would be mighty empty.

Indeed. Who filled Bush's $100-million warchest? Just seems kinda empty to examine & pick-apart the fillers of one candidate's finance chest while ignoring the bloated chest of the other...

And they should be called on it when they do.

Waaah- I donated to Bush in 2000. Didn't agree with EVERYTHING- You mean he should be called on it because little ole me gave him some money?

I don't think that's what you meant.
