This adaptation of Elmore Leonard's The Big Bounce takes place in Hawaii, where Jack Ryan (Owen Wilson), a charming petty criminal, forms a partnership with district judge Walter Crewes (Morgan Freeman). At the same time, he becomes romantically involved with a woman who's a criminal herself (Sara Foster). Together, they hope to scam a developer (Gary Sinise) and his buddies (Charlie Sheen, Vinnie Jones) out of some cash.

In this adaptation of Tracey Chevalier's novel The Girl With a Pearl Earring, a 16-year-old Dutch girl named Griet (Scarlett Johansson) becomes a maid in the house of famous painter Johannes Vermeer (Colin Firth). Though she's a poor girl and he's a respected artist, the two get along, and soon she becomes the subject of one of his paintings.


What a crappy weekend for movies, but I guess that makes sense with that whole football game going on.
