LONDON, England (CNN) -- British Airways Flight 223 from London to Washington was canceled again Friday, a day after it was canceled for security reasons and two days after the flight received a jet fighter escort into the Washington airport, the airline said.
With the nation on "high alert" status, law enforcement officials are taking an unusual number of measures to prevent terrorist attacks, including detaining planes upon arrival in the United States, restricting oil tanker access to a major U.S. port and denying landing rights for flights operated by airlines in other countries. Several Aeromexico and Air France flights have also been canceled this week.
British Airways passengers in particular had to keep a close eye on the changing flight schedules to watch for other delays or cancellations. The reverse flight, British Airways Flight 222, that travels from Washington Dulles International Airport to London's Heathrow, was also canceled Thursday night.

Is this now precaution or paranoia? Are so many actual threats popping up now or is this a very proactive defense?
