Movies out the week of Dec. 12th
Something's Got To Give PG -13
Jack Nicholson stars as Harry Sanborn, a 63-year-old music mogul who doesn't date women over 30. He and his latest girlfriend (Amanda Peet) drop in at the Hamptons, N.Y., house owned by her divorced playwright mother, Erica Barry (Diane Keaton). Later, while fooling around, Harry suffers a heart attack and is forced to recuperate at the house. There he gets to know and enjoy spending time with Erica, a woman almost his own age. But she has another suitor: the handsome young doctor (Keanu Reeves) who helped save Harry's life. Stuck On You PG-13 Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear star as conjoined twins, one of whom has dreams of making it big in Hollywood. They decide to head west, and when they arrive in town, they're cast on a television show starring Cher. She's bummed about being relegated to TV … until, that is, her show becomes a hit. Love Don't Cost A Thing PG-13 In this remake of the 1987 movie Can't Buy Me Love, Nick Cannon plays a dorky fool who pays a cheerleader (Christina Milian) to pretend to be his girlfriend so that he'll be popular. Girl With a Pearl Earring PG-13 In this adaptation of Tracey Chevalier's best-selling novel, a 16-year-old Dutch girl named Griet (Scarlett Johansson) becomes a maid in the house of famous painter Johannes Vermeer (Colin Firth). Though she's a shy, simple, poor girl and he's an educated, respected artist, the two get along, and soon she becomes the subject of his paintings. The Statement R Based on Brian Moore's novel, which itself was inspired by the real-life case of a French war criminal, Norman Jewison's thriller stars Michael Caine as a World War II Nazi responsible for the deaths of 14 Jews. With the help of elders in the French government and the Catholic Church, he has remained in hiding for 40 years, living a peaceful life along the country's southern coast. But his past is uncovered during an aggressive new investigation led by a famous Nazi tracker (Tilda Swinton), putting cops and assassins back on his trail. Modern Times NR (limited re-release) The classic Charlie Chaplin slapstick satire tells the story of the Tramp (Chaplin's most famous character), a man struggling to find a place within an increasingly modernized society. After accidentally wandering into a communist rally, he meets and begins falling in love with a street waif (Paulette Goddard).

At first, the previews for Something's Got to Give looked awesome. Then you found out it was essentially a chick flick.
Here I was thinking the whole movie I'd just be envying Jack. |
