found poetry
I had an idea, yesterday, to post a poem and let everyone have a try at turning the lines of the poem into a new poem.
you can not manipulate the words into new forms, but keep a part of a phrase as is. you can rearrange but not interchange. you need not use the entire length of text. does that make any sense? well, anyhow, here is one of my older poems, perhaps we can start with this and move onto someone else's? what say you? *** promises i drove by your house, today. it stood on its corner, brown and unassuming. the warmth could be felt all the way to the street. music played, inviting guests to dance to its rhythmic beat. i do believe my foot even tapped. but i dared not get out of the car. oh no. i drove around the block. sat at the stop sign until the car behind me honked and then i proceeded in a daze to the next block and then i found my car making its turn around back to your house. this time, you stood outside watering the lawn. your white shirt glowed in the summer sun and you aimed the stream of the water towards the sky and made a rainbow that arched over your yard and i smiled to myself. rainbows and promises. oh yes. rainbows and promises. i sat in the middle of the street for a few seconds, my thoughts of you meshing into your presence on the lawn, with your rainbow and its promises. your lawn and your promises. my thoughts and my promises. my rainbow and my own promises. and then drove on, watching your promises and your rainbows disappear along with my exit. |
