Question Planning A Wedding

How do I go about it? We know we're gonna do it, so why wait? My 2 older sibling are both married but they did it in Vegas. I'm NOT going to vegas. Hardest part is getting U2 to be our wedding band. Anyone know how I can go about that? I don't know where to start... But i'm happy.

Congrats

whens the date? how old are ya guys? HOw long ya been together?

So, I guess the first stage is deciding when. Then finding out where. Perhaps even first, is deciding hope many peolpe you want to invite.

30-40, 100, 200...

And then form there setting a date or setting a date as appropriate with a location you want it at...

Manu's right on. Do you want a small wedding? Medium sized? Huge? After you decide how many people, you can pick a venue that's the right size. So, first pick how many people. Then, pick the time of year you want to get married. Next, pick the venue for the ceremony and reception. What kind of feel do you want it to have? A garden ceremony? A reception at a gourmet cafe?

After that, you work on the details. Cake, attire, band/dj, food, etc.

ELOPE!

You will be happier in the end.

but if you insist on the headache, go buy you one of those nice wedding planner books, it helps keep you organized, and remind you of things to do.

Also, I know there are a few good websites out there, that can assist.

I'm using WeddingChannel.com. They've got interactive features, such as a guest list manager, gift manager, several online registries, scrapbooks, articles, budget planner, you name it. I bought a wedding planner/wedding journal that's nice but basic, and I use the online planner for the detailed things like the guest list and budget. It's nice to have a running total and what not.

Date: Don't know, just talking
Old:I'm 21, She's 22. She wanted kids by 26, now it's looking more like 24...
Together? Well we've been together for 2 months, but have known each other for... damn, 10 years. We've were best friends 6-12 through school.

When: Dunno, just knowing that we're going to have one eventually.

40 from mine, probably less from hers, and all our friends.

Medium sized... With all the people in our families that say we make a cute couple and stuff we'd get so much help it'd turn into a big one.

Time of year? If I were to ask her today, she's say yes, so anytime's a good time for breakfast... err I mean a wedding.

Cake? oh yeah, duh (for a second i forgot about it). Of course dressy, and I work in radio, I know too many people with too much music. (besides my downloaded stuff)

My sister had her wedding at a hotel. They provided either a 3 or 4 hour block for the ceremony and reception. Also included was a parlor room (it's one of the Historic Hotels of America.)

Gardens are also really pretty, granted that the day's not too hot, and ones that are invited aren't allergic to bees and whatnot. Not sure if you have botanical gardens where you live, but they usually have "tea houses" where you could have the reception there also. Just ideas I suppose.

I'm sure once you make decisions on a few important things like basically date, time, place, everything else will fall into place and keep rolling along. Good luck!

I was married & I had a formal wedding. If you choose to have a formal wedding, here are some tips from my experience and others I know.

1. Wear your hair up.

2. Invite everyone. Try not to leave anyone out, even if you think they may not expect to be invited.

3. Do it on a Saturday. It's worth the extra few bucks.

4. Order you invitations direct (invitation companies)by mail-order, don't go to a printer(middleman).

5. Get favors online, forget the favor stores. Too overpriced.
You will find the same exact favors online for a lot less.

6. Don't let your inlaws takeover, your the Bride. But try to be diplomatic.

7. Bands could be tricky, A DJ is a safer choice.

8. Wear comfortable shoes.

9. Choose wisely when it comes to your maid of honor & bridal party .

10. Don't drink until the reception starts & the posed pics are finished.

11. Try to maintain your weight once your measured for your gown. If you want to loose a few lbs. ,try to do it before the measurements. Try not to gain...taking out a dress will change it's initial style.

12. Try to do everything locally. Don't do too much traveling on that special day. Keep all destinations within a close proximity.

13. Check the Farmer's Almanac for weather. Certain months yeild little rain or severe weather, depending on your region.

14. Have your wedding in the evening or early evening.

15. If your thinking have having an outdoor affair, see# 13.

16. Buy a planner/notebook.

17. Keep track of your montly cycle & try to plan your wedding/honeymoon right after your friend is suppose to visit.

18. Pack an emergancy bag with everything possibly needed.
Advil,Needle & Thread,Hair spray,etc...

19. Try not to loose your temper or sanity, no matter what.

20. Don't skimp on liquor or food. Make sure the food is good & the booze is top shelf.

Maybe elope....just kidding - Keep it simple & nice. Whatever you choose to do, it will be a special. Congrats & all the best.

There are only ... 4 people who want to plan this thing. They can all work together. I don't care, as long as I have her.

MP3 CD Player. Stick in, leave alone, you've got music for 10 hours.
