actually i think there is a mistake in irelands date

in july 2001, we had 3 refendums in ireland. One was for recognising the International Criminal Court, another was for the treaty of nice and a third was for nabolitioning the death penalty from our constituiton i think

so to be correct, ireland would have abolished the death penalty in 2001 and not 1990

that's to the best of my knowledge

though i do think that the only crime that allowed a death penalty was for murdering a gardaí (irish policeman)

As opposed to a Political Crime I would immagine though often political crimes are disguised as "ordinary crimes" as in the case of Leonard Peltier or Mumia Abu Jamal.

Mumia Abu Jamal's crime isn't political, it's politicized.

Killing a cop isn't free speech.

I support the death penalty. It is a cheap alternative.

It helps that Mumia Abu Jamal KILLED the person he is accused of killing.

Can you prove that?
Another man actually confessed to the murder of Officer Falkner yet this has been ignored because the Philly PD refuses to admit they made a mistake.

So are we to weigh human life against dollars and cents? I see that argument as being too risky.

Are you sure about it?
May be all those appeals cost more then to keep the man in jail to the rest of his life?

Most people talk about bias and refuse to believe anything bad about their favourite politician.

E.g. Clinton didnt transfer computers to China!

or

Bush didnt transfer computers to China!

O.K. we all realise that bias plays an important part in partisan politics and that there is a huge amount that bias can change when it comes to facts.

O.K. so why do we arbitrarily kill people who are found guilty in a court that is full of easily swayed or biased jurors and judges?

In England several people have been found innocent 20,30, 40 years down the line and they are happy to have been freed and to have eventually gained their freedom.

What justification is there for the death sentence?

He was caught red-handed!

The only people who say Mumia didn't do it--which doesn't include Mumia--are leftist college dropout hippies who feel they need their clever conspiracy theories to feel good about themselves for sympathizing for an "oppressed" man who's being held down by The Man.
