Saturday Night Palsy...
Okay I know its not exactly THAT, but its similar....
Have you ever woken up and had a part of your body completely numb? OMG, Let me tell you some stories.... Sometimes I fall asleep on my stomach (I try not to) and usually one arm is under the pillow... well after a few hours that arm will go COMPLETELY numb, I can't even move it!!! One night I woke up and freaked out so I tried to turn over (like a whale on shore) and elbowed my wife right square in the spine with my numb arm.. LOL... Usually if it happens (about once a week) I will try to pick up my arm with the other arm and move it onto my chest... but im so freaked out that Im going to dislocate my sholder or break a finger.. LOL Also one time I woke up I was sleeping on my keys and my whole leg was asleep... as I tried to move I spasmatically slammed my knee into the 5/8" drywall and left a big hole.. ! Does this happen to anyone else? |

Yes. That happened to me the other day. It is ****ing scarey when the arm feels completely non-fuctional. I quickly grab the shoulder and work down toward the elbow to force the blood to flow freely again. The nerves are getting sqeezed too much and the communication between the nerves and brain are interrupted. I try to sleep on the back with legs elevated but in the morning I sometimes end up sideways which puts pressure on the nerves and decreases blood flow.

Ugh! I freakin HATE that! I do the on-the-stomach-wake-up-without-any-blood-in-the-arm thing...sooo annoying. It's always so painful when I'm half-awake and that tingling thing starts happening. I feel like I'm being possessed(sp.) or something...
