Bush

Consider this: An inarticulate, politically inexperienced man with family links to a previous national regime comes to provincial leadership. Subsequently he gains the highest national office without winning the popular vote. The election in which he was declared the victor is considered compromised by his brother's province. He appoints a chief law enforcement officer who has repeatedly called for constitutional revisions. Regulatory agencies are filled with those previously regulated. Soldiers patrol transportation centers. International treaties are abrogated. International legal organizations are shunned. Roles of police and military are blurred. Law enforcement agencies are centralized. Individual civil rights are reduced. A "shadow" government is created.

Domestic surveillance is increased. People are encouraged to spy on each other. Military budgets are increased. The military establishes a disinformation program. Media access to government is limited. Consultations with the legislative branch decline. Connections to corrupt corporate sponsors are disavowed. Efforts to further plunder natural resources for profit are initiated. Access to past administrations' documents is limited. A war mentality is established with imprecise enemies. Nebulous fear- inducing alerts are periodically released. National level profiling is introduced. People are imprisoned without public charges and unknown others are "disappeared." Does the word "coup" come to mind? --Bill Petz

You're right, Joe. Politics is dirty. Oh, yeah, we're at war, too. Messy.
You should run next time, so that one of us little people can have a chance to fix it all. Care to take a shot?

Great post. It is often scary how when the shoe is on the other foot we see things SO very differently.

The funny thing is...I don't neccessarily feel what this blurb implications, meaning, the implication of a large conspiracy/military dictatorship...but that IS the perception around the world.

I was talking to my Uncle while he was visiting (he lives in India) and that is basically exactly how the majority of the people there feel about Bush.

They feel he is a corrupt corporate supporter and that he isn't neccessarrily a legitimate president.

Students in school swear allegiance to the state. Groups, in collusion with the state, re-issue modified textbooks. History is subtlely rewritten. Science is biased and twisted. Lies are taught. A tricoloured flag hangs in every classroom.

I speak of two nations.

Well, considering the poor grammar, spelling and punctuation skills you’ve exhibited here, you shouldn’t be admitted to a local community college. Hell, you shouldn’t have been allowed to graduate from high school.

Do you have anything mildly original to offer besides typical Democrat platitudes?

so what should everyone just accept the fact that someone who wasnt chosen by the poeple to be president is in office and satnd up to salute the commander in chief. obviously im not the only one that thinks so since its such an unoriginal thing to say.

It is called attention to detail. Do you want to be taken seriously when discussing issues? Learn how to communicate effectively in the written language. Otherwise, your comments are seen as poorly prepared and lacking any thoroughness of thought.

This is a deliberate falsehood. Bush DID garner more votes. The "People" don't elect the President. We're not a direct-democracy; we're a constitutional Republic, and for a reason.

Go read Colonial and Revolutionary history, son. Start by reading Madison’s Federalist Paper No. 10.

As renowned economist Walter Williams wrote on November 15, 2000: “Americans should read the wise words of James Madison in Federalist Paper No. 10. There's no clearer statement that the Framers fashioned a republic and not a pure democracy. Our Constitution set limits on not only the power of the three branches of the federal government, it also set limits on the arbitrary will of the people that might be expressed through a majority vote. Madison said, "[M]easures are too often decided, not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor party, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority." And he's right.”

I've seen a better version of this. It compares Bush to Saddam. If I had it I'd post it.

Just another piece of the puzzle that's been re-written...

Intelligent people know the most important thing is WHAT is said rather than HOW it's presented. Bush plays to dumb America this way and it sounds like you're his target audience.

I'm thinking of a man who tossed the notion of correct punctuation and grammer out the window and became one of the world's greatest writters...

Intelligent people would actually understand my point. Therefore, they wouldn’t find it necessary to comment. You obviously failed in this regard.

I found it amusing that someone was attacking the intelligence and legitimacy of the President, and he couldn’t take the time or put forth the effort necessary to pay attention to basic spelling and punctuation. Now, that’s funny…

Well, I can see that you have something in common with your unnamed writer (spelled correctly). You’ve tossed spelling right out of the window as well.

Grammar. Writers.

Oh not this again

The election happened almost two years ago... give it up already!

Question to those who don't like Bush... how would Gore have fared any better?

I agree, get the heck over it.

To answer your question I think the fact that many Democrats thank their lucky stars he wasnt in office 9/11 speaks volumes.
