I had it for awhile, still do in small doses at certain times. It's a horrible condition, and it ranges in intensity. There's not really any cure, and med experts aren't really sure what causes it for sure.
I haven't had it for a little over a year. It just stopped one day. I'm not sure why, but I'm ecstatic. Probably something to do with anxiety levels. I also started using the adidas deo that doesn't have the nasty aluminum chloride. it was about that time that everything stopped. ![]()

Primary hyperhidrosis is the condition characterized by abnormally increased perspiration, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. Some patients afflicted with the condition experience a certain degree of reduction in their quality of life, depending on how severe their condition is. Sufferers feel at a loss of control because perspiration takes place independent of temperature and emotional state. However, anxiety can exacerbate the situation for many sufferers. A common complaint of patients is that they get nervous because they sweat, then sweat more because they are nervous. Other factors can play a role; certain foods & drinks, nicotine, caffeine, and smells can trigger a response (see also diaphoresis).

LOL, it's just sweat Manu, but yeah it sucks having to change my clothes twice a day in the summer, plus shower, better make it cold or you'll sweat for 2 hours after. As long as I have air movement things are fine. Combine no air movement with heat and humidity and I'm screwed.
I probably drink at least 3 to 4 gallons of water a day and that is no understatement. I used to take water pills to intentionally dehydrate my system to slow down the flood. Bad idea. It only caused cramps, and fatigue. Most people with the affliction sweat at their hands, feet and under their arms. I don't sweat at ALL in those places, hell I don't even need deoderant unless they have a full body kind. I sweat 24 hours a day, every day. Last year I was metal detecting a kick ass civil war site at 10 above zero and my freaking hat froze to my head. My buddies laughed their ass off. I take charcoal, smash it up and put it in headbands to absorb the moisture if I'm outside. I also wear nothing but no sweat shirts and shorts in the summer so I don't look like I took a swim in my clothes. I won't wear a coat until it's below 28 degrees. I'm not making any of this up. It's too f'd up to lie about. Humidity is actually worse than the heat. I'd take 110 and 0% humidity over 85 and 70% any day. People think it's funny, but it sucks like a hole in the head. |

Damn. If you moved here, you'd freeze to things.
Isn't there any treatment available at all?

I believe everything 86dude is saying. That's how awful it can get sometimes. There are treatments, but they are usually not worth it. You can get injected with Botox, but it's expensive and painful. You can get your sweat glands in certain areas removed, which is a horrible idea. You can try meditation or anxiety medication (that helps a few). They say that some people just have a sort of f-ed up sympathetic nervous system and have even said things like brain abnormalities. I have absolutely no idea. It started for me when I hit puberty, it was WAY WORSE in the WINTER than summer (Yeah, i don't get it either). It wasn't anything too awful or really gross, just an annoyance for years, then it just disappeared. I got tested my whole life for hormonal imbalances and a slew of other things that doctors thought might have caused it, but they never came to any conclusions. I'm hoping it never ever comes back.
