I want to go out and do something

but I have a "curfew" now. WTF is that all about?

What sucks even worse is that I work nights. So when I DO go out after work I only have an hour or two.

My dad says he's sick of me treating the house like a hotel room. I don't see why he cares so much though, it's not like I don't have a house key.

I know this thread makes me look like a spoiled brat, but I want to have FUN damn it, before I have to start "real life."

Anyone have any ideas of how to convince him to let me stay out later? He told me I have to be in on 12 on weekdays and 1 on weekends. 'cept that's around when I get off work.

maybe you can convincehim, youll stay home a few nights during the week and then get to go out later on a weekend day?
anyway youre 18 so its a lost cause. but I guess as long as you live at home, youll have to follow his rules.. he just wants you to spend more time at home.

Or maybe, now that you've been working so much, he actually misses you being around?

Well, honestly, that isn't too bad of a cerfew. You aren't old enough to drink yet, ( at least, I don't think ) so you don't need to be out at the bars and it's safer to be home before bar close bc of all the lunitics who drive after drinking.
There is also a saying, it goes something like this " nothing good comes from being out past midnight" or something like that....

Also, your parents may be light sleepers, and thus when you come in, it wakes them up as well.

"but I want to have FUN damn it, before I have to start "real life."

Oh, Ema! Newsflash! It's possible to start "real life" and still have fun (even more actually).
Don't think that you are obliged to marry, have kids, drive a sensible car, have a house, a mortgage, get fat, get grey, watch daytime TV...
You can do what you want to do, anytime in your life, you can be as wild and crazy at 28, 38, 48, 58 jeez, even 98 if your legs will stand it!

It may be a truism, but Holy Cow it is absolutely true:
Tomorrow is the first day of your life.

Work graveyard shifts. That'll screw their curfew up.

Problem solved! Just be sure to have a reliable alibi to back you up. I have a curfew as well. On most weekdays I work till nine pm which leaves me a couple of hours afterward to do something but I'm generally too tired to get back home then get all prettyed up to go out again.

The adults seem to think there is absolutely nothing for their wards to do after 1 am on a weekend....I beg to differ. Also using the excuse that your staying overnight at some friends house because your deep in some video game...doesn't' work anymore..in that at my age, guys don't have sleep overs.

If you're going to college then you can wait to go out later.

Your father is doing the things a loving father does. When you have your own children someday, you'll probably understand. If your father is still alive then, you might even find yourself thanking him for what he's doing now. I've seen it happen. Parents are not as dumb or mean as you think they are. They have your best interests in mind.

That being said, I'm going to lock my daughter in the house until she's 35. It is a very scary and dangerous world out there for young girls. Pregnancy, kiddnapping, rape, murder, etc. I worry about my wife and sister all the time...and they're in their early 30s.

Be careful out there and don't be too eager to grow up too fast. The world can be very overwhelming for a young adult. It can be that way for some of us with a few grey hairs too. When I was your age, I didn't know shit...but I thought I had it all figured out.

This is the very reason why I moved out on my own 4 1/2 months after I turned 18 and two weeks before Christmas. I was tired of being told what to do. I was also crazy in love and then boyfriend's (now hubby) mom was getting sick of "hearing" us and was going to ban me coming over to the house at night.
