2008 Presidential Candidate Selector

This selector features over two dozen names of announced candidates and politicians considered by pundits to be possible White House contenders. You may select a position for every issue, or just select those issues important to you. The candidates' positions are based upon their voting records, special interest group ratings and the candidates' statements in the public record. In cases where a would-be president has no known public record or statement on an issue, they are not given a score, which tends to reward candidates who take stands on more issues. Also candidates for president who take consistent and stronger stands tend to get higher scores. All the candidates and/or their staffs were written to and given an opportunity to clarify or correct their views as characterized here.

I was hoping that Ron paul would be my first choice, and Gingrich second, but at least I was close.

Unfortunately, I don't think any of the three would beat Hillary. I find that scary, but Americans are so obcessed with cults of personality, it's not all that surprising.

In the end, Rudy may be the only one who can keep her out of office.

I do have a bit of renewed hope in the American people after seeing the immigration bill go down last week. That tells me that we can still come together to defeat somethimng that is inherently bad for America.

I answered the questions, but refused to fill out the personal information portion and therefore don't know what my results are.

I don't like 'quizzes' or 'matching' programs like this one that require you to cough up personal info. Makes me feel like some gov't agency somewhere is keeping track of these things. It'd be much better if they just took my answers and spat out the test results (maybe with the OPTION to have them sent to an email address).

I got my results without giving any info at all. I just answered the questions and clicked on "get results" when the next window opened.

I also don't like giving out personal info, so if I have to, I just make it up. It's even fun sometimes making up ridiculous names that no one would ever really have.

I also use names like Curly Howard or Olly Hardy. For an adresss I might put something like "Lincolns Gettysburg address; 123 Main street", or some other ridiculous thing off the top of my head.

I also keep a hotmail address just for junk, so it doesn't ever get into my real email.

He's actually libertarian who supports gold or commodity backed currency and wants to abolish the federal reserve, as well as the current tax code.

He believes in actual freedom. If he's elected, he'll never get his agenda through Congress though. There are way too many D.C. insiders entrenched in that body, and they have no intention of changing their ways.

I've officially lost it I suppose, but if Gore ran, I actually might vote for the man.

This is exactly how I would vote if given the choice between these candidates... except I would never vote for Gore because he's proven himself to be spineless in a conflict and promotes the federal legislation of morals.
