Thumbs down Pigs arrest kids for food fight.

High school food fight ends with three arrests

http://www.cnn.com/2007/EDUCATION/06....ap/index.html

AURORA, Illinois (AP) -- A high school senior accused of starting a massive food fight that left a police officer injured was among three students arrested in the prank.

At least 200 students were in West Aurora High School's cafeteria when french fries, milk, sandwiches and pizza slices were hurled in a free-for-all, authorities said.

"It was just insane," said senior Zach Little, who was in the cafeteria when the melee began Thursday. "Things like milk cartons, full pop bottles and blue slushies were flying around. Kids literally bought the food to throw it and, to me, that's a little expensive."

The alleged instigator, Demetrius Oglesby, 18, faces a felony charge of resisting arrest after authorities said he ran from a police officer. The officer tripped over another student who had fallen during the food fight, breaking his foot. A school official also suffered minor injuries.

Two juveniles also face misdemeanor charges from the incident, including a 15-year-old charged with mob action and disorderly conduct and a 14-year-old charged with assault.

Students said rumors of the food fight had been circulating throughout the 3,000-student school all week as a senior prank.

I used to live in the next town over from Aurora.

They're *******s over there.

And the police should kill themselves and **** the bodies for pressing charges.

Jackasses.

If I were a kid today I would have never graduated high school or college due to a criminal record. I'm sure most people over the age of 30 probably fit into this category as well.
It's really too bad.

I don't see why my attitude is surprising.

If I tried to arrest kids for a food fight, I'd be laughed out of town.

There are a lot of issues revealed in that news story.

-The obese students are feeding of fries and pizza instead of real food.
-The overweight, out of shape cop could not step over one of the obese children and therefore is not capable of doing the job taxpayers pay for and should be doing desk duty.
-Demetrius is a name best left for history books and Shakespearean plays.
-Avoiding a fat cop is not resisting arrest, it is minding one's own business.

If you haven't been paying attention, law enforcement in this country is turning authoritarian. Kids arrested for jumping in puddles, prosecution by pigs kids backtalking in school. No pointing pretend guns at friends at recess=instant felony charge.

That's your fault, citizen.

You DEMAND this sort of shit, all the time. This country is FULL of punishment freaks (some of whom happen to be cops, sure), and people like me get the fun job of enforcing every piece of "outrage legislation" that seeps out of congress.

(Or not enforcing it.)

Not my fault copper. I don't vote for fascist right wing mayors or sherrifs that play the fear card to trump up their presence in schools. I'd have at least 10 felony convictions by the 12th grade if the same rules applied to us as they do the current batch of federal government created, brainless drones marching lockstep to their puppet masters in D.C. "click it or ticket" and all that waste of federal money spent on overtime just so you guys can get a free look inside someones car for a little weed or an open container. Meanwhile, back in the ghetto good cops are understaffed because they're buddies are coming back in body bags.

What's "fault" got to do with it? You're going to break the law today, whether or not you want to, or even know you're doing it.

You're ALL guilty.

Was it a food fight, or have the children revolted against the establishment's intent to feed them full of preservative and calorie-laden meals while taking away their funding for education to pay for well-padded retirement pensions for bureaucrats on the take?

Down with pizza! Up with a future!!

The phrase "food fight" sounds pretty innocuous and conjures up visions of laughing frat boys with cream cakes smeared on them.

BUT...
The report tells us:
"At least 200 students were in West Aurora High School's cafeteria when french fries, milk, sandwiches and pizza slices were hurled in a free-for-all, authorities said.

"Things like milk cartons, full pop bottles and blue slushies were flying around. Kids literally bought the food to throw it"

Students said rumors of the food fight had been circulating throughout the 3,000-student school all week as a senior prank.
-----------------------

Frankly I consider that a rampage, the instigators should be thrown out of school AND face criminal charges.

What message does it send to students and parents if this is just downplayed? I'm sure there were plenty of students in the dining hall who did NOT take part, but they were involved, showered with food and milk, could even have been seriously injured with one of those bottles to the head or eye.

Let's just saw their feet off. They'll never do it again.
