Thumbs up Sicko by Michael Moore

One of the most anticipated films this summer is Michael Moore's first film since Farenheight 9/11 called Sicko.

The film looks at people in the United States who have not gotten their illnesses properly treated due to insurance companies,HMO's and pahrmacuetical compaines, and a look at countires that don't have these problems like France and the UK.

Near the end of the film Moore takes some of the people who first responded at 9/11 [and in doing so have developed major lung and respiratory problems]to Guantanimo Bay in Cuba and in doing so shows how the Bush Adminstration is giving terror suspects way better health care that it's giving actual heroes of 9/11.

Are you saying people in this country don't have major health care needs that are not being properly taken care of?

I've enjoyed most of Moore's documentaries.

We pay alot more for our health care and France pays more than us.

In what way are the Guantanamo detainees suspects? That implies a trial. I am not sure I would want to be locked up indefinately in order to have good health care.

Why would anyone pay money to see some jaded bullshit like Sicko when they could be paying money to actually be entertained, and away, even for a moment, from this focked up shitty world?

Because many people would like to watch a movie taking on the shitty health care system in the USA, rather than watch a green ogre, a black spider, or a swishbuckler (not a typo!).

I wonder if this means the left wing establishment will stop the insanity of implying that the barbaric scum in Gitmo are being tortured.

I am curious to see what the obese slob has to say regarding the US medical establishment. It is bizarre, for example, that an extremely difficult to avoid illness such as Lyme Disease is ignored while an easily avoidable disease like HIV/AIDS has billions of dollars thrown at it. Also, I am interested in how Moore approaches the insane hospital policies and state and federal laws that discriminate against US taxpaying citizens so that illegal invaders, violent criminals and certain other groups get free medical care.

He's discredited himself to the point that nobody will take his points seriously, even if they do ring true.

Yea, and it's long overdue, the pharmaceutical companies and HMO's are wrecking the health and wealth of Americans, the drug cartels will kill you to make a penny of profit..

btw, I don't really know where he stands on this I'm just ASSuming

From what I know about Hillary's plan, she is in bed with the same HMO's and pharmaceuticals, I recently heard some really bad things about her health care plan in regards to health and medical freedom.

I recently watched 'The Big One', which was about downsizing and outsourcing. Very well done. He makes good points, as usual.

How do you figure? Where did he lie? He has been demonized by right wing groups and corporate media. He irritates people because he goes into things that righties just don't want to think about. He's a big, fat, irritating slob, I'll give you that. But he makes very good points.

Recently??
She's had her eye on the US healthcare system for years, and would love to screw it up worse than it already is.

Healthcare itself in the US is as good as it is anywhere. The problem is the whole third party payer systems we have created (the governmemnt being the biggest individual one), which have resulted in insurance buyers being screwed, because the health care providers and pharmacuetical companies are stroking the insurance companies and the government, who then have to pass the outrageous costs to the patients in premiums that rise years after year.

When the government steps in, it gets worse. My HMO cost me over 13 grand last year, yet the exact same policy can be bought for about 4 grand in another state. Why?? because MD insituted "health care reform", which forced insurers to pay for everything under the sun, and more than tripled premiums within 2 1/2 years.

If anyone from any government oganization claims they're going to "fix" the healthcare system, hold onto your wallet and bend over.

As far as Hillary goes, I wouldn't trust her to make decisions about the health of my dog.

A bottle of 40 mg. Oxycontin, 120 tablets costs well over 500.00 in the US. The exact same drug, from the same manufacturer sells for about 39.00 in Mexico. Who's getting stroked?? The American worker/taxpayer of course. The freakin' world is running on our backs, yet people flock here from all over for the best treatments when they have no alternatives left.
