PUNE: Four foreign nationals, including two minor girls, were arrested on Friday for insulting the national flag.

Alexandre Jacques Loic Leneuf (19) of France, Arnaud G.N. Leplat (19) of the Netherlands and the minor girls were spotted at Jushera Foods, Law College road, writing objectionable matter on the national flag on Thursday evening.

Toofan Shivaji Unde, who saw the incident filed a complaint and the four were arrested under the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act. The foreigners had come to India as part of Rotary Club's cultural exchange programme.
Catch that law

Important note to self, if in India salute the flag.

National Honor. Imagine that. Respect for a foreign country you're visiting. How novel. Accountability for one's stupidity. Now THAT'S over the line!

Yes, the fascist movement is alive and well in the United States. Luckily, we ousted one of them from the Senate last election here in Virginia.

How would it make them fascist? I see that term used loosely these days.

George Allen . I actually debated one of his staff on this issue, and it was what motivated me to recruit some votes for Jim Webb.

People really do take a lot of freedoms for granted. Many in the west just assume that you can travel the world and speak your mind, dress as you feel is appropriate, chew gum, and get blind drunk in public. The process for International travel used to be aggregious enough that you would have to deal with your embassy and they would point you at some pitfalls, but those days seem to be long past. It is very easy to get caught up in another nation's legal system unintentionally. But I'm not sure I really pity people who travel without finding out about the place they are going to. Then again, I may just still be bitter about the 100-odd pages I had to read before going to Japan.
