Was Don Imus Really Fired For Being Against The Iraq War?

In all the recent talk about Don Imus,a few things were left out.

Namely, that Imus was pro-Iraq War at frist ,then changed his mind and became vocal against the war and suported John Kerry in 2004.

Imus went from being pro Joe Liberman to taking Liberman to task on his show for supporting Bush and the war.

Imus's show was the only talk show in Amercia that gave anti-Iraq War Republican Chuck Hagel a forum to voice his views and several people I've talked to are now wondering if that is the real reason Imus is off the air.

In other words ,Republicans jumped on the Al Sharpton bandwagon to pressure the sponsors of Imus In The Morning and that's what got the show canned, because can you name any other Al Sharpton/Jessie Jackson boycott that was this successfull?

Imus got canned and now the leading anti-war Republican has no real forum to voice his views without conservative spin being put on them.

I wouldn't put this past snakes like Bush and Rove, they knew Imus would make a major slip of the tounge soemday and they [and their goons] were ready to take advantage of that the second it happened.

i'm pretty sure calling black girls nappy headed hoes was the reason, not the war, lol.

Not hard to believe.

Sharpton, Jackson, the NAACP, are all clearly not truly concerned with racism. If so, they would never run out of targets far more racist and damaging to black culture then mother focking Imus.

I'm not saying that Rove caused Imus to say what he said and I'm not saying Sharpton was in on it.

I'm saying that Rove knew that Imus [by the nature of the show]would eventually say something way over the line and that Rove had his goons organized to take advantage of that by adding even more pressure to the sponosrs the second it happened. and that it was that additional pressure, not Sharpton ,that got Imus fired.

I'm saying that racism was the club Rove beat Imus with, but it was not the reason Imus was beat,Imus giving time to Chuck Hagel is the real reason he is off the air.

American radio icon Don Imus disgraced, fired after threat to reveal 9/11 secrets

This is a good point actually. It does seem bizzare that they chose that one phrase to go after without mercy when there are so many other targets who are far more offensive.

They silenced the only "liberal" TV chat show of Phil Donohue;

Wikipedia: "the media watchdog group FAIR received a copy of an internal NBC memo that mentioned that Donahue had to be fired because he would be a "difficult public face for NBC in a time of war"[5]. Donahue was a vocal critic of the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. He mentioned the internal memo later in an interview on WILL-AM, a public radio station"

maybe it wasn't even Imus that said it, maybe Bush dressed up like Imus and framed him.

Are you all that ignorant?

Imus was fired for trashing Hillary…

After all it was Media Matters that ‘outed’ him…

Test the theory…if I’m right, Chris Mathews is next

I'll say. I'll never forget watching him cry in front of millions of viewers when Gore finally conceded after losing the 2000 election. That was pathetic.

I can see being maybe pissed if he had been my guy, but moved to tears because of a speech he didn't even write?? I don't think so. That bottle blonde Matthews isn't in trouble with the left, and he's no threat to Hillary. She's her own worst enemy; not Chris Matthews.

He had 2.5 million listeners a day on radio, half a million on tv.

That's only one million less a day than Limbaugh.

Europeans pride themselves on being well informed on the world generally, we follow the US scene closely since it always ends up affecting us in the end.

Oddly enough it doesn't seem to work the other way round...
