Baby Found Dead In Plastic Bag

Quote:
HOUSTON -- A newborn baby was found dead in a plastic bag at a northwest Harris County apartment complex, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Officials said someone walked into an apartment in the 5700 block of West Mount Houston Road near Antoine Drive and discovered the newborn before 4 p.m. Thursday.

The baby was taken to Willowbrook Methodist Hospital with CPR in progress. The newborn was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Detectives said they are working to detemine if the baby died before or after birth.

The baby's mother, 31, was also taken to the hospital. She was inside the apartment when the baby was found.

Relatives who live nearby said they did not know the woman was pregnant.

"I was coming from the store and they told me they had gotten the baby and all. The baby wasn't breathing. I said, 'I hope the baby ain't dead.' (The baby's mother) said she didn't know what was going on through the whole thing," cousin Alfred Bailey said.

"She didn't know what was going on when she was giving birth?" KPRC Local 2 reporter Phil Archer said.

This is the kind of story that just breaks my heart.

And I can help but feel that the mother of this poor child should go to jail for a very, very long time.

Unhappy

I have a 6 month old, and I couldnt imagine...OMG

That's just as bad as someone saying they killed their kids because God told them to......WHATEVER

If the mother didn't know what was going on, she had to have been either stoned out of her mind, or just plain STUPID, or probably a little bit of both.

My kids are my life, I couldn't imagine just sitting there and watching your baby die...like oh well....this kind of thing makes me sad and angry at the same time.

it's time to be merciful and understanding with the mother

IF she were truly unaware of her actions, (and that's a pretty big if), I would amend my statement to, "I hope she spends a very very long time in the psychiatric ward of a prison"

That's about as much mercy as I can bring myself to have for this woman.

If by merciful you mean a psychiatric examination and a jail sentence, then I agree.

No, no. If it were a man I'd convict.

But a woman in delivery is different. Special. We must have mercy.

The joy of birth outweighs any quest for justice.

This woman is noble and worthy.

Why is it different? The pain?

Does this mean that you can kill while in the throes of menstrual cramps, migraines, or a broken leg and get away with it?

Can you imagine what it would be like to have to cuff a woman during childbirth?

Not when the joy of birth culminates with a baby in a dumpster.

Unless she killed the child and the crime was noticed before the baby even exited the womb, no womb, there would be no cuffing of the mother during childbirth.

Giving birth is a act of nature, and experienced by many animals. It's not a divine ceremony where women are allowed to kill their children and get away with it.

If you tried to cuff me during labor I'd probably have ripped off your eyelids.

you're not serious?

you don't have to be worthy of anything for the right to pop out a child...
hell, you have to go through more tests to get a pair of glasses...

child birth should be regulated or at least enact a sterilization process...

wow myst. way to associate two totally separate things...
it was not meant as part of my evil genius plan to mastermind the destruction of specific races...

Just a quick example: Growing up in boston, I knew of people that would have an extra child simply for the fact that it resulted in more welfare money every month. And goddamn if they didn't get their hair and nails done every two weeks...
Does having a child necessitate it being for the right reasons?
Or even that the child will grow up in an accommodating environment?
No.
As far as I'm concerned, there (theoretically) should be certain factors that cut off people from having more children...
There are too many people as it is.
That's why there is disease, and famine and accidents as a result of stupidity; nature is thinning the herd.

And as far as sterilization goes, this is the strategy I personally back.
A convicted child molester (gets out of prison)...sterilize it.
A convicted rapist (gets out of prison)...sterilize it.
A convicted murderer (gets out of prison)...sterilize it.
And so on and so forth...
