Unhappy My kitty still isn't home

Today is the two week mark.

I don't think she's coming back--we KNOW she isn't in the park, she would have come home by now and/or we would have found her. If someone has her, they haven't seen our ad in the news paper or our sign up at the store...and she had a collar on, so that's not too likely. We've been to the shelter and filled out a missing report (they call us if they bring in any kitty that could be her)...

The past few nights I've been getting really upset right when I try to go to sleep (staying awake until one AM when you're exhausted is SO much fun... ).

    And there's no sense crying
    over every mistake,
    you just keep on trying
'till you run out of cake.
    And the science gets done,
and you make a neat gun
    for the people who are
    still alive...

I'm sorry sweetie. She could still show up, don't lose hope.
    Mirrors on the ceiling,
    The pink champagne on ice
And she said ’we are all just prisoners here, of our own device’
    And in the master’s chambers,
    They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can’t kill the beast

Don't give up hope yet. Like you said, someone may have found her, and just hasn't seen that you've been looking for her.

Try leaving something you wear on the front porch, she may pick up your scent, and change this daily. Leave her favorite food, or treat on the porch. Call her at night using her favorite word, like hungry ,etc. She may be in heat if she is six months or older. I do not know her age , so this is difficult, has she been fixed. She may be exploring. Do not give up, she may be right under your nose. I am sorry for you, and I will pray she comes back or is in a safe place. I never let my cats go outside. It is to dangerous for them.

How old was your kitty? If she was able to have kittens herself and was not fixed then maybe she has gone off and had kittens of her own somewhere? Often they choose quiet places where they know they won't be found.

    I hope she is ok!

Thanks for the reassurance. I just hope she comes back soon. If someone doesn't have her, then she's been out in the cold rain and is probably hungry (she won't starve, though--she likes to hunt bugs).

Most likely not. Unless she ran really really REALLY far away, first. The first thing we did after she was gone a while was check the roads, and my dad is on them every day to go to work.

The thing I'm worried about are this god damn kids--there aren't that many older ones around here (most of the kids are toddlers), but the few that do live here are evil.

Yeah, we got her spayed soon after we got her. She's about four or five years old.

For the first week, when we'd call for her we'd shake cat food in a cup (that's how we get her attention when it's meal time, and she always comes running ). We haven't done it for a while, since we're pretty sure she isn't in the neighborhood.

We usually only let her out in the early afternoon when there aren't many cars out, but my mom and I were out of town. My dad never pays attention to whether or not the cat went outside when he goes in and out.

Today was terrible--a lady called who had seen our missing ad in the paper, saying that a cat just like her had been wandering around her neighborhood for about a week. We couldn't go out there to see if it was my kitty, because we didn't have the car today (my dad took it to work), so the lady offered to bring the cat to US. It was really sweet of her.

I was so convinced that it was gonna Macy. I was ready to fill up her dish to have food ready for her when she got home--and it ended up not being her. It was like torture, I swear.

    There's always hope

Cat returns after seven years away
    By Leah Moore
    August 20, 2003

FOR seven years, Eleanor Pitchag kept her missing cat Peter's collar, never imagining her much-loved moggy would come back to claim it.

Eleanor Pitchag and Peter are back in each others' arms.

But yesterday the pair were reunited, thanks to $20 "well spent" on an implanted microchip and the help of a kindly cat-lover.

"This is the person that I thought I'd never see again," Mrs Pitchag said as Peter curled up on her lap.

"He remembers me. I think he knows the feeling of my hand. I used to sit and pat him all the time."

Now 10, Peter went missing from Mrs Pitchag's Beenleigh home seven years ago - three years after she adopted him as a stray kitten.

"I never replaced him. I couldn't," she said, despite admitting she feared the worst after a neighbour found Peter's collar shortly after he disappeared.

But it turns out the little cat was not dead, just lost.

And it would take several years and a bit of luck for Peter to find his way home.

A couple of weeks ago a Good Samaritan found the cat wandering the streets of Logan - not far from where he went missing.

He was taken to an animal shelter and was about to be adopted out to a new family when an alert veterinary nurse found a microchip, containing his previous owner's details, inserted under Peter's skin.

It turned out the chip was implanted when Peter was a kitten after a local newspaper advertised the service for just $20.

Queensland RSPCA chief Mark Townsend said he believed microchips – which now cost $40 to $50 to implant – should be compulsory as they allowed lost pets and their owners to be re-united.

Mrs Pitchag said she now counted that $20 as money "well spent".

Since she lost Peter, Mrs Pitchag has moved to a cat-free caravan park at Miami Beach on the Gold Coast, but is determined to find a suitable new home for her long-lost cat.

In the meantime, her son Peter (yes, the cat is named after him) and his wife Anita are looking after the moggy.

As for where Peter has been for the past seven years, that remains a mystery.

RSPCA veterinary behaviorist Katrina Gregory said cats rarely strayed far from their territory but had been known to climb into cars or trucks and travel great distances.
