Is Osama bidding on it too ??
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - It might be a bit tough to kick the tires of the hottest offering on eBay Motors Web site right now -- a 693-foot long, 36,000-horsepower World War II era aircraft carrier.
This aircraft carrier has drawn a bid of $90 million on eBay, as of Friday morning.
The carrier, which has a scrap value of about $2 million according to the ship broker who is listing the ship on the online auction site, had a top bid of $90 million as of Friday morning. The auction is set to end early Monday morning.
The name of the ship is not identified by Renming Cheng, the ship broker who posted the ship on eBay. It was apparently a British aircraft carrier, as the posting said it was built at an English shipyard and loaned to Australia for part of its life.
Cheng's posting suggests it can be used as a tourist attraction, ocean restaurant, museum, amusement park or hotel-on-the-ocean. The ship can accommodate 1,300, according to the posting.
He also declined to answer any questions from the media until the bidding is complete, although he said in an e-mail that the posting had set a record for most page views for any item -- more than 350,000 as of Friday morning, according to the site's ticker.

There was a USS Rizzi back in WW2 but after the war ended it was decommissioned and dismantled then sold off for scrap. It would have been cool to own it.![]()

They said it was a british carrier though.
The Prince of Wales was a british carrier that served in the pacific around Australia & all during WWII if I remember right.
Hard to say. It would definately be WAY cool to own a carrier though.![]()
