Nope, the last girlfriend I had was nearly 4 years ago. I was with her 2 1/2 years and we still talk. She's getting married this spring. A combination of me being picky and the only girls that like me are 17 or 18 has lead to me being single for almost 4 years. Oh, also the fact that a few of the girls I've dated in the mean time turn out to be quite crazy in the head.

I didn't realize you'd been up here twice.... The only one I knew of was the pirate party. I am currently sick, and the dr. told me last week that I have either always had or recently developed asthma and even though I don't smoke a lot, the little I do smoke combined with the asthma has left me very volnerable to infection, and that's why I've been sick so much. So I am now officially a non smoker going on 10 days....

Career wise I would like to get my film editing career in a nice, comfortable place, which means being grossly overpaid and having nice hours. I'd love the band thing to take off and go somewhere too. But those are goals that are really just hopes I guess. I haven't set them as goals to the point where if I don't reach them I'll be dissapointed in myself. The goals that are really important to me are just my continuation of a search for life meaning and having healthy relastionships with my family and friends. And other hippy/new-age-y stuff.

*edit* I forgot a couple. I have goals to do quite a bit of traveling, so far I've only seen the U.S., Mexico, and Palau. I want to build a darkroom in my house/apt when I find a house/apt suitable to do so.

Hmm, probably still here in L.A., in a fairly similar place, just with a better and more fulfilling job. Hopefully still rocking out (literally and theoretically). It'd be nice to have a girl by my side, but at this rate that's not too likely.

3) When you were younger did you ever envision yourself in the place in your life that you are now?

No. I think I was a bit naive when I was younger, I always thought it'd be pretty easy to find a job/career that was artistically and emotionally fulfillling. I never considered I'd be underpaid and hate my job and find it hard to find something better because I have to pay the rent in 2 weeks. I also thought I'd never start getting fat.

4) Idea of a perfect date?

A perfect date is more about chemistry than activity. If you have that connection with someone that is so rare, it doesn't really matter what you're doing with them. If you do want to know activities, I enjoy doing stuff on dates that I wouldn't necessarily do on my own. When I lived in santa cruz, me and my ex drove up the coast to this place that has hundreds of seals laying around. It wasn't anything special, but it was fun and something I'd never do on my own.

5) Perfect woman?

You mean qualities?

I could probably come up with plenty more. And of course I don't expect anyone to be absolutely perfect.

6) How many times have you had to stop and re-evaluate where you are in your life and reset your priorities?

A few times, maybe? Deciding where I was going to college and why and what degree... In college I switched everything around when I decided I should move to LA. I think I might be in the middle/verge of one of those moments now, I'm not sure. I've always been open to change in my attitude, beliefs, insecurities, methods, etc since I was about 14 or 15, so my life has always been in a semi state of flux, if that makes any sense.

7) Addendum to #6, were you happy with the changes you made?

I think so, I don't really have any regrets. I can't imagine living anywhere else right now, or doing anything else really. I'd probably do a few things a little differently if I did it all again, but nothing huge.

8) If you could change one thing in this world what would it be and why?

Yikes. My initial answer was to give everyone the gift of hindsight before hand, but that sort of takes away the experience of learning from mistakes, which is a valuable lesson. I suppose I'd change the downward spiral the world's environment and eco-system is in. It's a little hard for me to answer that because I'm a firm believer in the balance of "good and evil" and you can't say something like "I'd make world peace" because that eliminates half of life.....

9) What is your idea of utopia?

Based on my last answer, I don't know that it exists. There is always an element of evil, if there wasn't, it wouldn't be reality.

10) Is there such a thing as freedom?

Philosophically, yes. Realistically, no. There are always things to tie us down, which isn't always a bad thing. For example, I am tied down by my family and friends, but I don't mind that because I love them. I want to be here for them. I don't mind the lack of freedom having them in my life causes. There's also certain freedoms that one must give up in order to interact and survive as a society.

11) Is personal freedom a reality, a goal that can be reached?

I think my answer is the same as for #10

12) If there was ever a book written about you, what would you hope to convey?

That although I can be as ignorant and stupid as the next guy, I'm open to having that pointed out to me and changed.

13) If you could ever make the world learn ONE thing, what would you hope to teach them?

Ummmmmmm.......

14) Which do you prefer: a dog or a cat, and why?

Definately dogs. When I have the space for it, I'd like to have a weimerheiner and/or a boxer. Small dogs are stupid. Cats aren't fun. I love to wrestle and play with big friendly dogs and the effection they show is fantastic.

15) What is your personal philosophy on life?

In a nutshell: Do the best I can. I often fall short of that mark, but that's inevitable, so I try to just learn a lesson and do better the next time.

When I was 14 or something I came up with a theory that the purpose of life is to find the purpose of life. That's a little simplistic, but there's some truth to it. There's great mysteries that we will never learn about life and the universe and to just keep trying to learn and live the best you can.... that's all we can do and it gives us purpose.

17) Do you ever see space travel as a possiblity?

I really don't know. I assume you mean space travel that will allow us to travel great distances, such as "warp speed" in star trek. I sort of doubt it, but at the same time, wouldn't be surprised if we ever accomplished it. I think being able to explore the universe and answer some of the questions we have about it would just lead to bigger and more complex questions.

18) If you could go back in time and meet someone who would it be and why?

Stanley Kubrick because I find his filmmaking absolutely incredible. I would love to pick at his mind, and try to understand how and why he did what he did with his movies.

19) If you could go back and change one thing in your past what would it be and why?

I'd probably go back and better appreciate what I had and my father while I was growing up. I know there were times when I really didn't respect him and took him for granted and it really hurt him.

20) What is the secret to happiness?

Hope and an open mind.

21) Are we personally responsible for our own happiness?

Yes. Other people can effect positively or negatively our own happiness, but it is our own responsibility, for sure.

22) If you had a friend who told you he was suicidal how would you try to help him?

I have had this situation..... I just talked, really. I didn't try to talk him out of anything, I just told him about my life, things I've felt and experienced, and how I feel now. I never really knew what I said that touched him, but he said something did......

23) If you found out that God is real would it change anything for you?

Yes, it would throw a wrench in everything.... I can't really say how it would change everything, it would depend on the nature of the god that I found out existed.

If any of the religious books (Bible, Torah, etc) are accurate.

25) Are you happy with yourself and your life at this moment?

For the most part. I am in the middle of a sort of hard time in my life, although it's getting better. I'm not unhappy with myself though.

1. I would probably get mad if I was trying to sleep, yes. having a finger in the bum kind of prevents sleep and I get cranky when I'm trying to sleep and I can't. [too much information]I've had a finger in the bum while getting head though, it aint bad.[/too much information]
