    Oakland Athletics

A rough team, scrappy as they say. The best in the AL. I see World Series potential. The Yankees will choke this year.

    I hope so. Again.

For a team that is supposed to be so great and so loaded, the fact is, in the past 12 years the yankees have one exactly one World Series.

It only shows that money won't/can't buy you everything.

    "A" won't even get a wild card.

The Rangers have the best team in the AL. Both Oakland and the Angels have made that division, once a joke, into a very strong division. Both are making a "run" at Texas and both will not sustain their "run." TX will win that division, which is a shame, since I hate them (and I live 1 hour from The Ballpark; some fan I am).

Next year the pathetic Astros will be in the AL West, which will create a natural rivalry for the Rangers.

Rangers are now 6 up and they have some key pitchers injured that will be well soon.

And, in the WS, if they make it, they will choke again, even if they are the best team in the Bigs.

Choked the last 2. Why not go for the hat trick?

The Angels are as cold as ice right now. That can change quickly.

It is gonna be a great race to the wire in the AL West. Any one of the 3 can get hot and win it, and one of the other 2 is fully capable of making the WC. 47/48 games to play. Rangers 6 up, As 6 back, Angels 8 back.

Should be a dandy race down that Highway to Hell.

I doubt the A's will catch the Rangers but they are making a good run at it.

I am no fan of the Yankees but I think they will win the AL pennant race and get into the WS to lose it again. The Yanks are the best team all around in the AL.

Same here. The Yanks have a huge pile of money to buy any player they want.

Good sentiment. I grew up here and I am an 9er fan but I don't like the Giants...I think that it is because they are tainted by having come from NYC.

At least A's were from Philly.

The 'A's' begin in Philadelphia, yes..... but the 'A's' moved from KC not Philadelphia to the coast.

    The Angels are fading.

Texas wins the West, the As make the playoffs.

Texas chokes either before or during the WS. It is their tradition. They lost to an inferior Giants team and then, the next year, went to St. Louis up 3 to 2 and blew a big run in the 6th game and St. Louis won the 7th game.

I've lived in the D/FW Metroplex almost my entire life an still have never "acquired a taste" for the Rangers. If they choke, the planet will keep spinning.

BTW, I think the Rangers have the 2nd highest team payroll in baseball.

I can check on that and maybe I will.

2 games to go, both in Oakland. The A's have been one of the hottest teams MLB since they beat the Yankees in the final game of that series on September 23. Won 7 and lost 3 since then.

Obviously whoever wins tomorrow's game wins the AL West. Both teams are in the playoffs.

MLB Wild Card Standings as of now, as I type this into this computer.
