Sounds good. I've been doing rubs lately.
And I don't mean tobacco.
I got Myron Mixon's BBQ book and did his spare ribs. Best ever. I couldn't believe his marinade worked so well. It had Ginger Ale, orange juice, salt, Worchestershire sauce and ranch dressing powder packets.

I'm not a smoker, largely due to space/time. But a friend of mine loves to smoke pork, so we do that at his place pretty regularly.
I love smoking pork, but last year we accidently bought half a cow. You may well ask how that came about. We had contacted a farmer to get a price on a half. He said he didn't have anything right then, but might in a few weeks. We asked him to let us know when he had one available. About two weeks later, he called wanting his money because the cow was at the butchers. Those steaks and hamburger lasted a whole year, and I absolutely loved the brisket. We still have some roasts.

Now that's what I call a "happy accident"!![]()
The result certainly has been delicious! For $600 we got about 100 lbs of hamburger, the entire loin (hello filets), every cut of steak you can imagine, and multiple roasts. Like I said, it's lasted over a year, and that's a good thing, since I'm feeding some big eaters. I couldn't believe it when I watched my 5 year old grandson put away an entire ribeye by himself.

Gotta Masterbuilt smoker. Use it for everything from chicken to veggies. Made the Christmas Turkey in it and for the first time i didn't have leftovers. It's great for a summer oven so I don't heat up the house.
My wife's uncle raises cattle...he always has freezers stuffed with beef.
Of course he's on the other side of the country from me now, so we're paying retail. If I had a decent sized freezer though....I'd be thinking of stocking up right about now. (All I have is a very small chest freezer atm).
I do have a freezer, actually I have three. One the size of a family size refrigerator, the other is the size of a apartment size freezer and the one in the refrigerator. I will be stocking up in Oct. Hubby has a business so we shop where the restaurants shop in bulk. With Prices going up,stocking up seems to be a way to save some serious cash.
I'll stick to my old fashioned baked turkey.Don't care for the fried turkeys much either.Long as its fresh, its good though.I just prefer the baked.
Smoker here... I like to smoke most of the meat we eat... it provides them with a special flavor.
