Atheists, how do you account for strange shenanigans?

Say, the assassination attempt against Andrew Jackson. 2 guns, they both misfire. They checked the guns afterwards, they both fired. Back in those times, they said Providence (ie godly shit) saved him.

Once I threw a bullseye playing darts, then threw another that actually pierced in between the layers of plastic tailfeathers of the dart I'd just thrown. Did God realy want me to throw a Robin Hood or what?

This is going to sound odd but I believe that science will eventually show that things like this are a result of the human minds ability to control its surroundings. The guns didn't fire because Jackson's mind prevented them from doing so.

..and when I fail to get a Klystron working, it's because I'm using my power of will to prevent it from working?

Relevant to this debate is the You Can't Explain That meme.

When you attribute the unexplained to the unexplainable, you've ended process of trying to explain the phenomenon. The more you depend on God for your answers, the less likely you are to find the truth. That applies to science, philosophy, psychology, morality, and the human condition.

That's why so many of our founding fathers were deists. They believed that our Creator gave us the ability to observe and reason, and that we should be using those attributes instead of obedience to dogma and superstition to guide our endeavors.

With gazillions of events happening per second, rather a large number are going to seems "too" coincidental.

There are many things about the world and the universe we live in that we simply do not understand. At one point, people used to attribute meteorological events various Gods, yet today we know this is silly due, in large part, to our firmer grasp of the physics behind various weather phenomenon. So combine our lack of understanding with many things still with the massive amount of events happening everyday, and you're bound to see some strange 'coincidences.'

If both flintlocks were left near a source of moisture, then either the flint or the powder would be slightly damp. After the initial firing it would have dried the top of powder or the flint.
Making the gun able to fire on a second attempt.

It could also be bad powder also flintlocks were renowned for misfiring, there's nothing strange in this event whatsoever.

Theism: the virus that infects and disables the brain's inbuilt bullshit detector.

Kill a man, and you are an assassin. Kill millions of men, and you are a conqueror. Kill everyone, and you are God.

Don't try to sell me on god. I don't BUY BULL!

Try to debate the article, not the author.

If I were just arrived from the deepest Amazon jungle, with no understanding of how television worked, would I be justified in thinking that TV was an act of a diety?

Using all I would know at the time, I couldn't offer a better explanation. We should apply the same humility to other situations that confuse and fill us with wonder. Then we should get curious, and try to solve the mystery. Whether there is a diety is not relevant to resolving unexplained phenomenae.

Actually the current scientific understanding of weather phenomenon does not invalidate ascribing them to the moods and activities of Gods, rather science has changed our modes of perception in ways that make us less likely to do so.
