So, it's like 105 here and hasn't rained, significantly, in 6 weeks. It's the dust bowl part deux. So I'm driving to our rental property to check on some stuff and there is a federal postal worker and some other dip shit standing at the side of the city park watching this fire burn and just sitting there. The flames weren't even as tall as my junk but were spreading out slowly in a circle like grass fires does. So I pull over, jump out and start stomping the shit out. Mission accomplished, but nooooo, the postal worker already called the fire department and the other stooges failed to intervene. Fire put out courtesy of 86Dude. So the cops show up and give me all this grief, wanting ID which I refused to give because I broke no laws. The fire department shows up too and they didn't look too happy that I did my civic duty and put down what would have been a really big mess while the other pussies stayed behind a fence and gawked. WTF is wrong with people?
Government union workers suck ass.

Damn, I have to get an external keyboard on this damn laptop. The keys keep screwing up and I end up with Typo's in meh post. My problem isn't with the postal worker, but it was as if I just committed a crime by walking on to someone's turf. Isn't that what civic duty is about? I don't understand this shit and I'm truly sad.
That's just it. The fireman think that if someone does their job, there should be a penalty. That union mentality is bullshit.

Yeah, they should have thanked me. I've learned increasingly that the path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil man. I may not be "righteous" in that sense, but I am right most of the time.

Well any fireman I know would have thanked you.
Most woo woos out in th stix don't "get" to fight much fire so they get all excited and want to be the hero at every chance. You robbed them of that chance.
Firemen who actually work for a living don't have that problem, as much.

They didn't say anything but they were pissed off, I could tell. Why? Meh car was parked in the area they needed. I didn't have time to deal with the cops and then move the car since I was supposedly "detained" so the problem isn't really with the firemen, but with the cop that was looking for something that wasn't there. Didn't ask me 1 damn thing about what might have caused the fire. That would have been grounds for detainment which would be fine with me. This really isn't a bash against public servants but more of a gripe about douche baggery. It can burn next time for all I care.

What's wrong with people who are in the union?
I didn't say anything about it. I'm a fence rider on that topic.
GanjaFreebird (07-05-2012)
Fair enough.
Yep. The larger point here is that authority doesn't like looking outside that box they're trapped in. When someone takes them out of their comfort zone, lawfully, they tend to lose it because they were never trained for it. They were trained to work with people that submit, don't ask questions and do not know their rights. In other words: subjects, not neighbors. That's the lesson you should derive from this event even though it is less likely to be seen in seasoned veterans in public service.

I have the feeling you are leaving out some details to this story.
None. Come on Lulu, I don't like cops but I was really trying to own this situation and fix the problem. BUT, I don't like being treated like a criminal for trying to fix a problem. I know my rights and I'll exercise them. Everybody should. What more do you want to know? My major rproblem is that they attempted to detain moi. First thing they asked for was ID. Really? I just stamped out the damn fire while the postal worker and his knuckle draggers sat there and watched. Simple shit, but they had to go and ruin the vibe by running me for warrants and giving me a little shit about not waiting for the fire department. I mean really? They shouldn't have even called the fire department.
And just so you know Lulu, you've done gone and hurt my feelings so I'm going to go cry now.

Good for you, 86. To hell with them.
Show us not the aim without the way, for ends and means on earth are so entangled
That changing one, you change the other too; each different path brings other ends in view
