Thumbs up The A,B,C And D Of Boogie Woogie Featuring Charlie Watts

It is difficult for any decent person to sit back and not comment on the anti-Semitism,racism ,sexism ,and all-around ignorance espoused on the majority of DA's posts,it's fucking sad when one gets a warning for simply being a decent person.

Wow, Watts really kicks up an I-IV-V progression to the next level. Actually the piano guys sucked too. Sounded like Little Bugle Boy.

This is EXACTLY how Jazz needs to sound! That's what it used to sound like before it turned from fun music full of soul into mostly boring elevator music.

The piano players are GREAT actually, top professional level, I wish I could play like that! And of course Charlie is as solid as always, I can't wait to see him with the Stones next year for the 50th anniversary tour!

That's how Jazz used to sound before it got boring...some blame Miles Davis for that, personally I don't, as his stuff was still great and obviously he meant well, but Jazz after the late 1960s started going straight to hell, unfortunately, which is probably why it's not longer popular like it used to be.

Well,a lot of fusion was great ,especially Weather Report.

And a lot of(then) younger people put their great take on "old school" such as Wynton Marsailis,Diane Schurr and Diana Krall.

And you had Casandra Wilson who to use Duke Ellington's phrase is "beyond catagory".

As for boogie woogie, you have Brian Stezer,Royal Crown Revue ,and Cherry Poppin' Daddies (my favorite of the bunch).

And when he's inspired,Harry Connick Jr. can play almost as good as Count Basie (hardly a week goes by I don't play at least one album by Basie).

Some of it was in the early days especially, and yes, Weather Report are amazing indeed!

I agree 100%, especially when it comes to Marsalis. By the way, his recent album with Eric Clapton is some of the best music I've ever heard!

She's very talented and has a great voice, I'll give her that.

Also, when it comes to Jazz-related music during the last 40 years, I'd mention The Manhattan Transfer (one of my bandmates' father played drums for them), Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jaco Pastorius, and of course, Jeff Beck.
