    ACLU to represent KKK group

The American Civil Liberties Union will champion a Ku Klux Klan outfit's right to "adopt" a section of highway in Union County, an ACLU official said Tuesday — on the same day that key members of the KKK group acknowledged they live in a neighboring county.

Two weeks ago, the Georgia Department of Transportation rejected an application filed May 21 by Harley Hanson, who calls himself the exalted cyclops of the Georgia Realm of the International Keystone Knights of the KKK, and his wife.

They've represented the KKK before. They represent people who's rights aren't being recognized by the government.

That's what ACLU attorneys do, defend citizens whose constitutional rights are being trampled on by the heavy hand of government. That's all they do.

If you're unsure about who thinks government should be able to do anything it pleases to citizens, just look at who criticizes the efforts of the ACLU, which receives no government funding (despite critic's lies to the contrary).

Blah, blah. Yeah, we all know what the ACLU does.

Using TT logic. Since the ACLU is a liberal institution and they are defending the KKK, does that make liberals DemoKKKrats?

The ACLU is neither liberal nor conservative: they defend the rights of anyone on either side of the aisle.

Like the ruling against the Boy Scouts from using public land?

Drat, those heavy handed government officials that trampled on those teenagers.

You said TT and logic in the same sentence!

Liberals apparently are more aware of government encroachments on our civil liberties and constitutional rights. If there's no such thing as a partisan right-wing version of the ACLU, the fault lies within the right wing, its ideology and its agenda for America.

The ACLU doesn't make rulings. Our courts make rulings based on our constitution.

He's half right. Liberals have historically defended citizens' rights under the constitution regardless of viewpoint and are thus inclined to support our constitution's most ardent advocate, the ACLU.

I don't know, but if you got some evidence that the KKK contributes to the ACLU I guess they are.

Where in the Constitution does it ban the Boy Scouts off public land and how is that in the public's interest.

Yes, but that's because freedom is a liberal cause.

I believe their position was that the BS was a religious organization and shouldn't be given favorable use of public property. I also don't believe that argument was successful, so I'm not sure what your complaint is.
