Thinking about getting one for the racing games. Worth it? Is it about to become obsolete? Will I get bored with it after 3 races?

how about steering wheels. I didn't get it yesterday because all they had was a gay little hand held wireless steering wheel you hold in your hands and it's not connected to anything and there's no peddles? Is that any good? Should I hold out fora real one?

Is it a totally stupid idea?

I used to go out and skateboard or ride motorcycles or swim or bike or live life, but lately I sit at home all the time. Seems like sitting at home with a racing game would be better than watching tv.

we have the PS3 with associated racing paraphenalia... it's realistic enough I'm putting my son through the grand tourismo driving course and quite pleased with it at that. Collecting the cars is quite a blast, but GT isn't a "game" as such it's more of a simulator, but that's what I like about it personally. We also have Pacific rift, which is the opposite end of the spectrum, being monster trucks, ATVs, big rigs and volcanoes.... not very realistic and a heck of a lot of fun. I like the PS3 for this, we also have racing games on the wii, with those small unattached wheels you speak of, fun.... not very realistic at all, much lighter entertainment. I've not tried X box but I think a lot of the games are the same.

Personally I prefer jigsaws....

I turn off my network connection during GT play, I don't have enough net here in Aus for PS3 we just have the logitech wheel, it's not flash, but it's the best value and good enough for us. Have a table we bolt it to.

How awesome is GT3? It's really super-duper crazy-fucking awesome. That's how awesome it is. I'm so glad I got this.

I have an 09 Corvette ZR1 I've completely race-modded and souped up to nearly 900 bhp. It's so fuckin' bad-ass I can't believe it. And, it's so realistic it's almost a reasonable substitute for reality . . . especially since you can't be crippled or killed from mistakes made in a PS3.
