Texas dad kills daughter's abuser by punching him to death

"A Texas father caught a man sexually assaulting his 4-year-old daughter and punched him in the head repeatedly, killing him, authorities said.
The father was casually acquainted with the alleged abuser, said Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon.
Neither has been publicly identified.
The girl was left inside the family's house during the social gathering, while other members of her family were tending to horses, the sheriff said.
The alleged abuser was known for his horse-grooming abilities, Harmon said.
The father returned to the house, caught the man in the act, and stopped him by striking him in the head several times, Harmon said.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene, while the daughter was taken to a local hospital in Victoria, Texas, for examinations before being released. "

Charles, you've put this under "let's take action" so I'm not sure what action you'd like us to take. The best part of this story is the police have zero interest in pursuing any kind of charges against the father. They've said someone can protect a third party using whatever means necessary, which means he could have shot him too. Texas really has no tolerance for pedophiles which is one of the good things about this state.

Some folks here complained of lynch mobs when there was a mere call for Zimmerman to be arrested and charged, and those same folks are now applauding taking justice into one's own hands in the case of the beating to death of this pedophile. There is a certain inconsistency there.

I can't say that I would do differently if I were to catch someone fiddling with a child of mine, but with the luxury of a cool head, I am able to recognize that justice should not be brought about this way.

Of course there is a difference.
But it remains that if you thought there was a lynch mob here on DA merely because some folks wanted the justice system to charge him but still afford him due process, then you can't really applaud a person who took justice into their own hands to kill another person. You can understand why they did it but you can't applaud them if you want to remain minimally consistent.

Lynching describes taking 'justice' into one's own hands to kill another person.
Yet you find the term more appropriately used against me who wanted Zimmerman to be charged but receive due process... than you do for a man who killed another man without anything resembling due process.

The discrepancy is manifest, and you can argue circumstance as much as you want, it won't change a thing

As unlikely as it may be, it is possible that pedophile was actually doing nothing wrong: we have to take the father's word for it that he caught him in the act. This is not justice. I can understand why he did it, and I MIGHT do the same in his shoes... that doesn't mean it is defensible.
