Why not? It may be the least undesirable option one has.
Suicide is almost always associated with mental health issues and bad circumstances in life leading to it. Can a mentally stable person can use reasons/facts to determine they should commit suicide?
Is it possible people could have nothing wrong with them but end up deciding suicide is a good a choice as any in life? The basic is idea is a person weighs the Pros and Cons of continuing to live life. If the Cons out weighs the Pros, they person can accurately make the judgement it isn't worth living any more.
Here is a site with more detailed info: Rational Suicide.

Of course Charles.
Next question.
yes, there are quite a lot of sane people who commit suicide, and even more people who want to commit suicide, but decide not to. Depression is a big factor that leads people to commit suicide, also the loss of someone dear, or failure in life (like exams, jobs, love etc.)
Albert Camus's primary philosophical question was this. Because it is really one of the few choices an intelligent free person can make in this sick, left wing, neocon, homosexual society of gay, zionist war mongers.

Yes, that is Camus' view, because until the question is answered, one's chance for a moral existence has not begun (or ended) -- one has not taken one's life into one's own hands.
Camus' answer is that suicide, as a response to the general condition of human life is a contradiction, because the condition to which it would be a response is life's absurdity, and suicide does not respond to this condition, but removes it.
A rational person can commit suicide for the good of the many. I.E. killing yourself because you want you family to survive. So the answer is yes.
Theism: the virus that infects and disables the brain's inbuilt bullshit detector.
Kill a man, and you are an assassin. Kill millions of men, and you are a conqueror. Kill everyone, and you are God.
Don't try to sell me on god. I don't BUY BULL!
Try to debate the article, not the author.

Does anyone remember when that guy doused himself in gas and set himself on fire in from of Robert McNamara's office window? The answer is yes.
That was pretty gay.

I agree with 86. I.E. a mountain climber might cut the rope to save the people above him.
I was thinking more about a true protest actually. Obviously, people can and will sacrifice themselves for the greater good. These people should be remembered with honor, but there are also those rare persons who sacrifice themselves in protest. That takes a big set of balls and mine aren't large enough to live up to that kind of shit because I have a kid. Even if I didn't that would require a mindset that I do not possess.
If you believe in life after death, I don't see why you have to have a mental illness to commit suicide. It is, however, THE most selfish thing you can do.
