Saw a Cobra
just like that the other day driving. Not sure if it was a kit or real. There are retards who drive $300K cars around here.
We are doing a gig at a car show in a couple weeks. Will take some pics!
I am keeping an eye out for a retired NYPD Harley for purchase, but I bet that market is cornered. I know there is a cop car recycle joint on the way to Hunter Mountain, but not sure if they carry motorcycles.

Awesome.
There was a guy with one of those around here a few years ago. He used to commute on it. It was teh badassness.
I just restored a bunch of old pictures from backups (reason I spammed that other thread with photos). Anyway, I found some pics from the 2006 car show. I did a crap job on them, but I'll pick through and post some more, later. There were a few good ones.
One thing that sort of bugs me about restored cars is using after market parts (typically mag rims). Personally, just me, when I see a pristine vehicle from the 1950s or 1960s I want to see Ford or GM rims and stock tires on it - like they way it looked when it rolled off the assembly line. I love that look.
Here's an example of what I don't really like:
The way I would have preferred to see it:

I lust, but after cars. I think I am at the age where I can accept I will never have another really cool car. Truthfully, what I do demand of a car is for it to be reliable. If it ain't reliable it is gone. I am far too old to fool with a car that won’t crank, is in the shop often, etc.
Yet everyone that can should own a sports car if possible, especially when one is young. When I lived on the coast, 10 miles from South Padre Island, I had a Triumph TR6, a 1975 model. It had the inline six-cylinder engines with 125 hp and it was more than loads of fun. It was quick and it handled really well. The girls liked it almost as much as I did. A friend down there had a Vette and the ladies liked my TR6 more than his Vette, maybe because one seldom say a TR6 as opposed to a Vette. And, it was reliable (shocker). I was 23 and thought I would be 23 forever.
That was 33 years ago. So much for being eternally 23.
The TR7 came out and it was a nightmare. I saw them in the shop more than on the road. I kept the TR6. Heck, it performed much better than the TR7 anyway, without the problems (maybe I got lucky?).
But those days are gone. I drive old men’s cars now. That is because I am an old man.
Yet I sure do like to look and lust after one of those cool cares.
My Dad and his wife bought an Avalon—she’s been driving one for years. You talk about a nice vehicle. There is almost no road-noise. I’d never driven one and it is impressive.
I’d love to have a Nissan 375Z (they look cool, even if they are not the fastest car on the road).
My dream car is the 1986 Ferrari Testarossa like they had on Miami Vice. What a nice vehicle.

The cars used on Miami Vice. I think they made up names because I've never heard of some of these.

I love those old hot rods. 33 coups and Model A's souped up and chopped. They probably ran like hell but they're so bad ass.

Hey, we used to go to the State Fair in Dallas every year and we'd spend hours looking at the new cars coming out. Of course, I lusted over them. I suspect it was one of, if not THE most popular display at the fair since it was so damned crowded with gawkers like myself.
Muscle Cars: I ain't too hip on the old, old cars, but the muscle cars of the 70s? How can one not like the 1968, 396 hp Camaro, the 68 Mustang fastback (especially the Boss 302), the Dodge Dharger '68 (440), etc.? My brother and I loved the muscle cars of that era even though we couldn't afford one.
We got hooked on the Funny Car races. Talk about some bad ass and cool cars (the top-fuelers were boring compared to the Funny Cars).
There was a rich kid at school that had a Vette before he had a drivers license. Changed cars every year, and I was jealous of his rich butt. And, comically, he was a decent guy and a friend (I still envied him) He had a Super Bee, I think with the 440, and even though it was not as fast off the blocks as other muscle cars, it had a top-end speed that scared the hell out of me. I've never gone that fast again and I felt helpless since Gary was in control and I (a control freak) had no control.
By the time Gary graduated he had a new car every year. We lived in a hick town with poor people with a graduating class of a grand total of 77, and Gary was the only kid that was able to have cars like that. His dad had sold some land in Dallas to a dude developing liquor stores and his dad made a fortune. Gary got what he wanted.
I got what I hated and it was all I could afford. I hope you all know I was a "victim" (I love that overused word). I think I deserve your pity!
