Unemployment goes UP. After 3.5 years Baraka and the Leftists still blaming Bush

Completely laughable. Where is Cowpunk? Where is that 6.5% unemployment he all but guaranteed?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Job growth braked sharply for a third straight month in May and the jobless rate rose for the first time in nearly a year, raising chances of further monetary stimulus from the Federal Reserve to nurse the sputtering recovery.

Employers added a paltry 69,000 jobs to their payrolls last month, the least since May of last year, and 49,000 fewer jobs were created in the prior two months than had been thought, the Labor Department said on Friday.

The report is troubling for President Barack Obama, whose prospects of winning re-election in November could hinge on the health of the economy. Republican opponent Mitt Romney called the report "a harsh indictment" of Obama's policies.

Instead of blaming Bush and more stupid, dishonest, excuses, I'd just like to see one leftist honest enough to say Obamanomics hasn't worked. Do we have one here?

The media will down play it while praising Obama for 'Job well done'.

We elected a boy king, who put men in power who spent their formative years playing Abortion Doctor with their Barbie collections.

And people expected different results? Really?

A lack of summertime job growth =\= unemployment rising. The BLS hasn't released the May stats.

It's rather normal for unemployment to rise slightly in the slower summer months

And somewhere, Baghdad Bob wipes a proud tear from his eye. "I taught him so well", he whispers to himself. "I taught him so well".

One thing I notice is that when Clinton was in office, about three years later the economy underwent tremendous growth. Personally, I credit this as mostly due to the phenomenon of the Internet. What's interesting is the same voices that were predicting his failure were crediting Reagan with his success. Here, the same voices again are refusing to give credit to Bush's policies. This would lend credence to Cha's claim that the conservatives want to have it both ways. (Of course, I think this form of dishonesty is generally rampant in partisan politics.)

For the record, Powerboss, I consider myself (and am so rated by "tests") as a slightly left libertarian, & I agree that Obama's policies haven't done much to repair the economy. I also blame Bush's policies for the majority of the difficulties we're facing today.

Oh, and this thread belongs in the Partisan Bickering sub-section of the Political forum, not in The News.

There are numerous factors that determine economic growth. Bubbles, like the dot.com, can certainly help that but it is also indisputable that economic policy also has a lot to do with it. When we have economic policy that is bleeding the private sector, it's up to 25% now, over regulating it, and playing a role in the cost of essentials going up (like fuel, food). Couple that with the uncertainty coming from the administration in regards to well, just about everything, it should come as no surprise to anyone that our economy is stalled out. None of the people in the Obama administration have worked in the private sector, they all have these visions of how it's supposed to work but have never actually had to make something work or succeed because they've not worked in the private sector.

For the record, Powerboss, I consider myself (and am so rated by "tests") as a slightly left libertarian, & I agree that Obama's policies haven't done much to repair the economy. I also blame Bush's policies for the majority of the difficulties we're facing today.
The reality is that both Republicans and Democrats deserve the blame for where we are at. This goes back decades. The American people also deserve some blame as they empowered those people do do the damage but the fact remains that a good portion of the American people actually believed that they could just have stuff handed to them (entitlements) without having to actually pay for them.

Very disappointing, Hadit. Usuually, you step up with actual debate instead of partisan tent-pitching.

You are correct on every point, but it was funny and appropriate, given the situation. Sometimes, you just can't resist.

In my state which he unemployment figure is slightly higher than the national rate, it was announced that unemployment insurance will not be extended again, forcing many off the unemployment rolls when their benefits run out. I guess that in itself will help lower the rate in coming months but add to the overall uncounted unemployment which is closer to 20%.
