I have considered life without a diety but find it highly unlikely as there must be a top of the cosmic food chain based on what I see on earth. That is what God is, the top of the food chain, the highest being, how can there not be one?
thats what i tried to tell you: its not at all hard to believe. its an idea pretty much everyone grew up with or at least knows about. some people think about that, understand what is meant and then decide its untrue. so again: why cant you understand that?

why must there be a top of the cosmic food chain, simply because theres a food chain on earth? earth top of the food chain, btw, is a grey area far as im considered... i also see no need for a 'cosmic foodchain', why shouldnt the universe work without it?

    and for the record:

agnostic - claims to not know wether or not there is a god
atheist - claims that god does not exist
anti-theist - is morally opposed the concept of 'god'
"...and from these walls laughter will run over the world and infect with courage the bent, laborious peon of antiquity." - 'Desolation Angels', Jack Kerouac

"...now you're really in the total animal soup of time..." - 'Howl', Allen Ginsberg

I was at a Freethinkers picnic in Colorado Springs and the head guy there told me, and it makes sense, that atheist, is simply someone who doesn't believe or accept theism or in other words, not theistic. To claim that a god does not exist seems to require faith.

It sure seems that there are two definitions for atheist. 1) Believes (or claims) there is no god and 2) Is not theistic.

So, can I say 1) It is possible god exists and 2) I am an atheist?

Look at a leaf, an ocean wave, a sunset, the stars, think about the abilities of your own body and mind. The simplest most telling things are right in front of us and we ignore them.

We (and most high school students) know exactly how leaves, and ocean waves, sunsets, stars, and human abilities are created.

If "god" exists, he doesn't give a sh#t. If he doesn't give a sh#t, he's unworthy of worship. If he's unworthy of worship, our moral obligations are to ourselves and to no one, and to nothing, else.
Uhh, no. There should be a social compact where if I'm bleeding profusely from a car having run over me, somebody should come and help meh, or we would be like Chiner.

I Pledge Resistance, to the Nazi Flag, of the United Police States of America, and to the Private Federal Reserves for which it stands. One Corporation, under Goldman Sachs, unaccountable, with poverty and slavery for all.

He could have meant "ourselves" to mean "we humans".

The point is that man didn't create these things.

OK, but what does that got to do with the original post or evolution or creationism?

Obviously something created those things. All we know for sure is that it wasn't man. Is not being able to prove God exists enough to completely ignore the possibility? A being that powerful could easily avoid detection or it could be everywhere and you simply refuse to see it.
