    FOX News.

So I just got cable TV for the first time in about a bazillion years. So far, I only know of Fox News from foxnews.com, where I get to read the transcripts to see the insane levels of propaganda, dishonesty, and manipulation that they're throwing out to their bobbleheaded little audience. What are the good shows? I want to watch a few to see what it's all about.

Check for RT news. It has shows titled 'headline news', 'kaiser report', etc. Haven't researched the origin, seems like a shill for Russian interests, but it has lots of lefty bias. A good pinko counterpoint to the Foxy crypto-fascist corporate line. LinkTV is another lefty, Bloomberg is business news (mostly righty)...

RT is extremely unbiased news. If it is not zionist, neocon propaganda, does that mean it is in "Russian interests?" Isn't the concept to present truth?

If you think FNC is sooooooooooooooooo biased, then disconnect your cable. You're basically brainwashed beyond being salvaged.

    Just listen to NPR.

I like RT, but it can't be considered the sole source. For the "zionist line", either CNN or Fox works just fine. Al Jazeera, RT & Link are good sources for the "anti-zionist" line. Watch both.

I've seen very little of Fox News. About a year ago I was in a new doctor's office and it was on the TV in the waiting room. An item came on that I'd read about in the news that morning, but Fox presented only half the story which without the rest made it look like the president had made a peculiar decision when in fact it was quite sound. I think the talking heads even rolled their eyes as they reported the half-story.

Anyway, when the waiting room cleared I asked the receptionist to change the channel, and she did.

The next trip to that office, Fox was on the TV again. Again, after the waiting room cleared I asked them to change the channel. "We can't," I was told. "The remote disappeared."

Guess it was important to the doctor that only one side of events be presented in his office.

It's funny. You plug into outright propaganda daily, and think that anyone who hasn't had their mind erased and reprogrammed by that trash is "brainwashed". Really, that's fucked.

I bought a digital antenna about 6 months ago and RT broadcasts here, so I watched it for a few days. I figured it was basically a liberal version of Fox. Though I do agree with much of what they say, I couldn't stand to watch it any more because I just don't like submitting myself to an endless stream of propaganda . . . even if it is propaganda I agree with.

I just want to watch Fox for a bit to see what exactly it is that's going into these poor, simple, stupid people's heads so I can understand them better. I figure I won't need to talk to rightwingers any more if I just watch a little FNC. I'll find out what they think at the same time they're being told what to think.

I kept hearing that Air America was going to be available over the Internet, so when it finally happened I tuned in... for about 15 minutes. Everything they said was accurate and what I already knew. I kept saying to myself, "Yup", "that's right", "of course", "uh huh". It was boring. One thing I don't need is hearing what I've already figured out myself from simply living on this planet being repeated back to me.

That's another reason I wasn't comfortable anymore in the Republican Party. I guess some people need that constant affirmation that their ideas aren't crazy and selfish and short-sighted or they're in danger of critically evaluating them and accidentally begin to challenge them. The Party certainly can't have that.

Conservatives needed an alternative to the lies, propaganda and omissions of the liberal MSM. It's amazingly pathetic how wound up liberals get about one little news network that has a much smaller cable only audience than even the lowest rated of the 3 massive liberal broadcast television networks. Liberals have been pumped full of more donkey shit than a lone port-o-john at a DNC convention.

Huckabee and Hannity are good shows. I don't care much for O'Reilly, Shep, or Greta. The Five is good and so is Bret Baier. Chris Wallace on Sundays is very good. Fox and Friends is very good every morning.

Fox News leans to the right, but has several libs on it, and is more fair and balanced then the others. Their ratings are high, which should tell you something.

What's really funny is to watch the kook left squirm. And squirm. And squirm. And never really know WTF they are talking about.

    Food for thought.

I used to be able to get FOX News and Russia Today, but now we just get CNN International. I've never been all that impressed with American news networks, but it's a different point of view at least.

In Britain, News International's presence is the slightly more respectable Sky News. The UK doesn't really have a tradition of crass, common-denominator opinion hotspots like O'Reilly or Beck (although we have opinionated newspapers and Internet mouthpieces), so news networks only really differ on coverage.

    BBC News: reliable but repetitive.
Sky News: repetitive and uses too many graphics.
Euronews: reliable and has a wider coverage.

It's perhaps because of the lack of propaganda that we have strong, unbiased satirical shows like Have I Got News For You and Mock the Week.
Show us not the aim without the way, for ends and means on earth are so entangled
That changing one, you change the other too; each different path brings other ends in view

I'm no longer up to speed on British journalism but what you say echoes my impressions of when I was.

There is no such thing as unbiased News analyses. There is no such thing as unbiased news reporting. Anyone who thinks otherwise is full of crap.

Sky News is partially owned by News Corp, The same company that owns Fox News. Rupert Murdoch is everywhere.

I think you might like the morning one with the attractive blonde... Megan something. They always have a topic du jour of the week that they get hysterical about and then it's 24/7 of that topic. They have guests come on and they all yell at each other and talk over each other.
