Populism in certain regards is the third rail of Modern American Politics. It is not more prominent or more widely recognized simply because it's hard to get two populist to agree on an agenda. This is largely because it is a world view that has far more to do with what you believe to be true than what is true. Populist conspiracy theories range from the old John Birch Society of the fifties to todays 9/11 truth movement if you can call something a movement that hinges upon a physical impossibility. It loves the gold standard when we don't have one and hates it when we do. The best one can say about your average populist is that logic is not a close acquaintance which brings us back to Glen Beck.

I haven't been able to stand Beck for some time. He's mostly correct, but I just can't stand him. Maybe the next time I'm in the DFW area, I'll see him, and we can do lunch. I'll straighten him out, maybe make him cry!

Glen Beck, and I'm not a fan, in fact I find the possibilty explored in the OP more than a bit troubling, is about as much a Neocon as you are a Jewish Messiah. Not everyone who disagrees with you about the threat posed by Muslim extremism is a Neocon.

Beck has been right more often than anyone in this thread, including John Stewart. MSNBC uses Stewart to rip apart Beck because they can't find a way to do it themselves.
