    Thumbs up Spurs and History

The Spurs are flirting with history in the postseason...

    FOXSPORTS.COM:

    Updated May 21, 2012 6:12 PM ET
Sweeping the Clippers last weekend put San Antonio's winning streak among the 10 longest in league history--tied for fifth along with Michael Jordan's 72-win Chicago Bulls in 1996, among others.

Eighteen straight victories is a franchise record, and getting to 19 would tie the 2001 Lakers for the record of longest winning streak kept alive in the postseason.

...these Spurs can be classified as the higher-scoring, better-shooting and more balanced than in any of their four championship seasons.

San Antonio is the only playoff team averaging more than 100 points per game (102.5), and unlike in their previous championship runs, Duncan, Parker and Manu Ginobili aren't burdened with more than half the scoring load...

Their bench is deep. Duncan has been able to play less time, so he should be fresh for the Thunder.

The Spurs vs. Miami in the finals, imho.

I ain't a Spurs fan but I do like Duncan.

    I share your feelings.

When the Lakers beat the Celtics back about 4 years ago [it ain't been many years ago but I don't recall] for the title, it was a great night.

They simply have become old compared to the Thunder. Parker can still light it up and Duncan is (still) a nightmare if he gets posted, but they couldn't (or, it seemed to me) run the floor with Durant and Co. Just too slow. Duncan remains a class-act. I don't ever recall his name being in the papers on some "Michael-Irvin Incident." Nor Parker.

Durant is the most exciting scoring forward in the NBA in a long time. Cover him and he's around you. Lay off and he nails 3s. Dude has every shot. Left hand, right hand. He's got it all. He ain't much on defense; loads to learn. Hell, he only played one year at the University of Texas, and they could have cared less if he played defense. He's got a lot to learn if he decides to learn it.

Miami is gonna win it. I admit I wish they would not. I admit I ain't losing sleep over it.

The Thunder losing game 2 at home hurt. Badly. Jettison their home count advantage.
