It completely eviscerates any due process or judicial oversight for any action by the government deemed in the interest of "national security." Like the NDAA, the new EO puts the government competely above the law, which in a democracy, is never supposed to happen, The U.S. is essentially under martial law without existence of a national emergency.

I'm interested in now examining the ways in which the order allegedly does this. Because I've read opinions that state the order simply reaffirms privileges already established in earlier legislation on many of those points.

If we look into this together, and if your opinion remains valid afterwards, I will wholeheartedly agree with you that Obama is a dangerous man: not only because he would have allowed this, but because he pretends to stand for something so opposed to these sorts of measures.

It appears to be no more than the most recent update of an EO issued in 1994. The fact that it's occurred during campaign season may have turned it into an campaign issue, if one were grasping at straws.
