Google Glasses: Would you wear them?

These Google glasses will be in stores sometime this year. I think they're really cool but I've read some really interesting feedback too.

So what's your take on these new glasses?

I don't think they are anywhere near coming into stores. Google talks about it entirely as a 'research' project. And if you look at their history with Android, Google TV, Google Wave, they will release anything and put a Beta label on it. The fact this is 'research' to me indicates its extremely far from production...

That said, the idea of a HUD that can be used for Augmented reality is pretty amazing and powerful. I just am not sure if I want Google to see/know everything that I see and do. And you'd look pretty silly wearing those.

i dont like being hyperavailable anyway, let alone to google.

I think the concepts with HUDs on windows in cars/homes is way cooler. Those are places where a wide interface really makes sense.

Once these hit the market, they will quickly be cracked, hacked, & otherwise unlocked. Buyers will have alternatives to the stock software bundle that reduce or preclude observation by Google or even the authorities. I plan to be one of the latter.
