    NHL Playoffs

So who else is watching and if so who are your picks and who are you cheering against etc...

I was not surprised that the Capitals beat the Bruins or that the Predators beat the Red Wings but am surprised that they are trailing the Coyotes. I was also expecting more from St Louis in the second round but LA has manhandled them so far.

Also, as much as I loath the Flyers, I was glad to see them eliminate Sidney Crosby who increasingly seems like the Justin Bieber of the NHL.

Here are the second round match ups:

    EAST

New York Rangers (1) lead Washington Capitals 2-1 in series
New Jersey Devils (6) lead Philadelphia Flyers (5) 2-1

    WEST

LA Kings (8) lead St Louis Blues (2) 3-0
    Phoenix (3) lead Nashville (4) 2-1

I was hoping for either the Blues or the Preds to make it to the final but I now have the feeling the Kings will be the Western Conference champs this year. I still think the Preds will take out the Coyotes though. I'm less decided in the East which is weird cause usually I find the East easier to predict.

I want to see LA beat NY in the finals. Jonathan Quick is freaking amazing.

Yeah his playoff numbers so far are insane.. A lot of goalies can have stellar regular seasons then tank in the playoffs, so far he has been just as stellar. In 2009/10 he allowed 180 goals in 72 games and had a 0907%
The past two seasons he's played in 69 and 61 games respectively, had a save percentage above 0.916% and allowed less than 135 goals against... No doubt that he has a better team in front of him but he's still a big part of the drop in goals against.

Go Kings Go!. I've been a Kings fan since around 1971. My dad took me to see them in the 71-72 season at the forum.

Still, even though we're up 2-0 - these are still the Kings. I'm not counting my eggs before they're all in one basket.

One other thing. The Kings games in LA this week WON'T be on a conventional TV channel. It will be on NBCSN, an obscure sports channel not too many people (in Southern California) have on their cable line up. Our Kings, will be in the SCFs and a lot of us will have to scramble to find a place to watch it. (The first two games were on NBC so I'll bet a lot of people will assume the next games will be on NBC too.)

I feel your pain. Try being a hockey fan in Houston.

I've been waiting over 40 years for this. My dad used to take me to the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood in 1971.
