"Social programs of one sort or another" - how disingenuous to lump welfare in with health care and pensions, the two biggest areas of spending behind defense. But at least you pointed out how little goes to infrastructure.

Unless you are talking pensions for government workers pensions are not part of the US budget per se. Social Security exists outside the Budget process.It is funded by social security taxes not income taxes.

Sense several whole departments aren't even on that chart I doubt it's accuracy.For instance for sometime now the single biggest line item in the Department of agriculture's budget is the food stamp program. Dwarfing even the various giveaways to agribusiness.Nor is there anything there regarding salaries for government workers payments to house all those bureaucracies.
